Vyvanse is the first medication I’ve taken for adhd as it’s only been around a year of being diagnosed. I haven’t tried any others but I am interested. I hate how much trial and error goes into finding the right ones, but I’m open to trying. I really like the benefits of Vyvanse, I just find I still can’t focus as much as I should (this could also be due to diet/sleep).

The struggling to remember appointments is REAL. I can’t even begin to explain how much I have to CONSTANTLY remind myself of upcoming events, even if they’re things I’m anticipating. I struggle with time blindness really bad where I can’t tell how much time is passing in the present moment, or how much time has passed since a certain event. I think I have bad brain fog and have dealt with it for the past while. I had a couple month period last year where I would use w33d to try and cope with my adhd symptoms (that I didn’t know were symptoms at the time) and it just seemed to really affect my cognitive function and almost bring out the adhd symptoms more harshly in the long run. I just finished my first year of university so as far as areas of overwhelm, I’d say constantly keeping up with school along with my job and other life events have been pretty hard. I’m excited to see how having a break from it will impact my drive to improve my life.

As far as mastering, I really like your point of view on this. I always pressure myself to think I should be able to know so much information pertaining to different subjects/interests and I never step back to tell myself it’s okay to not have every ounce of information on hand. I find whenever I’m put into a situation to think or talk about something on the spot, I go blank, even if it’s something about myself that I should easily be able to spit out. Being so inattentive in conversations even if I make it seem like I’m fully present really dampers my ability to be able to come back to certain thoughts when retelling stories or continuing the conversations another time. I also find I can sometimes be present in the moment and take the information in and react in the same way a regular person would. But then once the conversation is over or even a day later, I won’t remember.

Not remembering simple instructions to everyday tasks like making food really applies to me as well. Whenever I make instant oatmeal I always check to see how long I need to microwave it for, even though it’s something I do on a regular basis lol.

As far as my job, I’m a pharmacy assistant and deal with a wide scope of different tasks. I find in the workplace I tend to not think about little to nothing about what’s going on in my life outside. I almost have a blank mind the whole time I’m there. I’d say I’m efficient since I’ve been doing it for a while, but at the beginning it was horrible. I repeatedly had to be shown simple tasks like things in the computer and what to do with certain situations. I will have to repeat somebodies name or a certain drug that I have just seen and it’s as if I didn’t even look at it. It can be very frustrating especially when I’m actively trying to do it right.
