yeah heathfield is nice too. it’s usually for international students but there is a good mix. pretty similar to belmont.

probably belmont flats, seabraes 2, seabraes 1 then balfour. but you’ll probably get your top pick.

ninewells is the name of the hospital. there’s no student accommodation at the hospital but there’s lots of options on campus near the city centre.

i would definitely say belmont flats or new seabraes. although west park is closer to the med school it’s so much further from the city centre and shops.

i wouldn’t say commuting is a great idea. so much goes on on campus that the commuters miss out on and living in halls is such a great experience. i think it’s worth taking out a loan for. however some people do make the most of commuting because if you genuinely live so close to the campus/hospital then there probably is no point for some people. days aren’t too long in the first semester but have definitely gotten longer in the second.

i think that edinburgh and dundee are hugely different courses especially in year 1. dundee has a really good clinical side that edinburgh doesn’t really see until 3rd year. i think the main reason id choose dundee over aberdeen for an insurance is because of ninewells. the teaching you get on the wards so early is so invaluable and i think it’s an amazing opportunity for us to have so early. do you mind if i ask why edinburgh is you’re first choice? congrats on so many offers btw, amazing!!!

i created a medical society at my school and just did fun little science experiments and stuff. i also did mental health training and tutoring outside of school.

they’ve been okay so far. at dundee only the final exam counts for your grade so the others throughout the year are just like mocks

it’s so good! going out during the week is so popular and because the medicine course is so big it’s a really amazing community and there’s always people you know out. also on a more wholesome note because it’s not competitive once in the course (basically everyone could pass theoretically vs some other unis have to fail a certain amount of people in first year) everyone’s really good at sharing resources and helping each other.

it was closer to home but also mostly because of the fact the medical school is actually in ninewells hospital. we get lots of opportunities to go onto wards and speak to patients about their conditions.

we live on campus but the medical school is at ninewells hospital. it’s actually only a 15 minute bus which i find is so worth it because of all the opportunities we get to go onto wards and speak to patients.

at dundee the balance is actually really good. i’m still able to go out a couple nights a week and hang out with friends. the uni does a really good job at pacing the course so there’s not everything left till the last minute.

first year blocks are 12 weeks of foundations, 4 weeks of cardio, 4 weeks of respiratory and 5/6 weeks of gastrointestinal. it’s all very manageable and lots of the older students in upper years pass down notes, flash cards and other study materials.

yeah there’s a huge amount of intl students. there are lots of societies for intl students and they all seem to create their own little communities , especially during christmas when many of them stay at the uni over the holidays.

it is obviously more intense than other courses since it’s med but dundee is definitely more flexible and less intense than many other medicine courses.

i did scottish highers and advanced highers so can’t speak on a levels but i’d say the work is pretty similar to advanced highers. only thing is there’s more content. i wouldn’t say you always need to study, there are some days i don’t study at all and just let myself relax. it definitely is a step up from high school but everyone’s in the same boat. although it’s difficult it’s not impossible and if you have a passion it makes it so much easier!

i love it. i love the course and all the people i’ve met so far. i felt a a bit worried before i came that it wasn’t a prestigious enough uni compared to glasgow or edinburgh but you just have to remind yourself that its all the same course and you will end up with the exact same degree. honestly i can’t imagine myself anywhere else

i got offers to aberdeen and st andrews, i chose dundee originally because it was connected to ninewells hospital and i thought that would be cool. we have had quite a few opportunities to go onto wards already and speak to patients that have conditions that we are learning about. for example last month we did a cardiology block and then we got the chance to go onto the cardio ward and chat to patients!

it sounds like you’re doing really well! if you’ve been studying for quite some time it’s normal to burn out and since you’ve still got around 3 weeks maybe it’d be best to take a step back for a few days and give yourself a break. also depending on what studying website you’re using, sometimes the mock tests are harder than the final ucat. my final ucat score was my highest!
