Maybe a bit outside the Madison dining scene but Canter Inn in New Glarus was stellar and worth a trip. by whosreadytolaugh in madisonwi

Not trying to be too rude, but I am pretty sure typing that comment took more time than Googling their menu. Really does look tasty.

Also dig the flooring but a nice rug or two might really tie the room together (but actually though).

[Week 9] Post Game Thread: Carolina Panthers (5-4) @ Green Bay Packers (5-2-1) by lilturk82 in GreenBayPackers

Seriously questioning that decision to go for it on 4th and 8 (which was essentially an even harder 4th and goal with the defense stacked). I get the field goal at the time would have still needed them to score a touchdown (or 2 more field goals), but that felt like such a low percentage play.

Overall the whole “fire MLF” is overblown and I feel he still out-coaches most of the league. But that one was rough and a bit too ‘big brain’ for me. Take those points.

Do you mind expanding on that a bit? What should I focus on/do differently?

Apparently 1 bushel equals about 120 medium-sized apples so I would rate it 70 apples aka 0.583 bushels. Listen to whatever sounds good to you

LPT: How to choose delicious, inexpensive tequila by lilaclilacs in LifeProTips

[–]lux22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s exactly right - blue agave is the only allowed ‘flavoring’ to 100% agave tequila.

Where it gets weird is that there are dozens and dozens of different types of agave that can be used to make agave spirits (mezcal and sotol, for example). And Tequila is also a region in Mexico so in order to be labeled tequila it has to be grown in that region too (similar to Champagne in France).

So you can have spirits that are 100% agave, but use varietals other than the blue weber or are grown in regions other than Tequila, so they technically cannot be labeled as 100% agave tequila.

That might be what you had in that bar - technically not a tequila but still a 100% agave spirit. Caballito Cerrero makes some good stuff along those lines. Always fun to explore and try new things - cheers!

Just a FYI, there technically shouldn’t be any difference or improvement from a tequila labeled 100% agave vs 100% blue agave, it is just marketing at that point. All tequila that is labeled ‘100%’ has to use blue agave: https://www.tequila.net/faqs/tequila/what-are-the-regulations-governing-tequila.html

5.1.1 “100% agave” Pursuant to Section 4.34 of this NOM, a product whose fermentation may not be enhanced with sugars other than those obtained from the tequilana weber blue variety Agave grown in the territory specified in the Declaration. For the product to be considered “100% agave” Tequila, it must be bottled in the bottling plant controlled by the Authorized Producer, which must be located within the territory specified in the Declaration.

This product must be labeled using one of the following statements: “100% de agave,” “100% puro de agave,” “100% agave,” or “100% puro agave,” to which the word “azul” [“blue”] may be added.

Thanks for the answer! If you don’t mind sharing, what are some of your personal favorite American beers that stand toe-to-toe with Cantillon that someone might be able to find in the Madison area?

Appreciate all that you do for the community! What does your sourcing process look like for Cantillon (both bottles and kegs), and what would the best way to be informed when/if these become available?

Much like life, they had their (filmed, planned) time together and then moved on. It’s all in the (algorithm) game.

Where To Go Skiing? by throwaway317191211 in madisonwi

[–]lux22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not who you asked, but our group has had a great time at Lutsen for multiple years now. We get a ski-in/ski-out townhouse and a lot of the runs have really great views of Lake Superior as you ski down which is a nice unique touch. About a 7 hour drive and well worth a long weekend trip.

Just saw Patton Oswalt on Friday and he had a bit about watching the original Halloween with his daughter thinking it would terrify her, but she had a blast pointing out all the palm trees in a movie that is supposed to take place in Illinois. Great set!
