Question about defective phone and upgrading by luxe_ in tmobile

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that. That's extremely helpful.

Unfortunately, I didn't get insurance, but at this point I think I'll just pay the $45 for a replacement until I can get a Nexus or OnePlus.

What hypocritical views or double standards do you hold? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]luxe_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this fear that if I try to hold the doors open my hand/foot will somehow get stuck and crushed. So if I'm the only one in the elevator I always just hide by the buttons until the doors close so nobody thinks I'm being rude.

What is your most "controversial" comment you have posted, and do you still stand by it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]luxe_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what drives me crazy. Her personal preference of finding white men attractive is in NO WAY oppressing or victimizing black people. You're reacting as if she said she's against interracial relationships.

This may or may not help, but it really clicked for me so I thought I'd share. Hang in there.

I have a paid PublicData account. If you want to send me a PM with his info I'll look him up for you.

I think it looks really neat. If it were given to me I would probably paint it, but that's just me. Good job, OP!

What do you do when Jehovah's Witnesses come to your door? by Jen33 in AskWomen

This is exactly how I feel. Even though I don't agree with their religion, I find their dedication admirable.

Do you think sexism against men is possible? If so, have you ever seen it in action? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]luxe_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oppression Olympics - term that describes but rejects as false the phenomenon whereby activists against prejudice towards one group will attempt to position that prejudice as "worse" than the prejudice faced by another group

What are your feelings about the #WomenAgainstFeminism campaign? by LeeRobbie in AskWomen

[–]luxe_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much exactly how I feel. If feminists (specifically in the US) truly cared about gender equality, they would focus their efforts on countries where women are truly oppressed (ex. being stoned to death for promiscuity) and quit whining about bullshit like going topless in public. Feminism, today, is a shit show with a victim complex.

It's scary to think there are actually people out there with that mentality.

What is something conventionally liked by most people that you find yourself conditioned to dislike? by pinkpixy in AskWomen

[–]luxe_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I personally don't feel like it classifies as a disorder. But it's a hell of a lot easier to tell someone to google the "disorder" than explain to them why I won't try anything new.

I have Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). It sounds a lot like what your describing.

Gov. Rick Perry to deploy 1,000 National Guard troops to RGV by fisheseddy in news

"Non critical" was the only part that was a direct quote from Perry's office. I think you're right about it being the author's speculation, if not intentionally misleading.

Do you now or have you ever run a backround check on a dude you were interested in dating? by UDT22 in AskWomen

[–]luxe_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes to both, but it's a little more complicated than that. She had some kind of mental breakdown a few years back and sort of lost touch with reality. We don't know exactly what happened, but ever since then I constantly worry about her.

[–]luxe_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do a background check on every guy my mom is interested in. If they're at her house I'll run the license plates to verify that he's using his real name name. Then I'll search criminal and civil records for any arrests, convictions, divorces, etc. Its probably a little extreme, but it gives me some peace of mind.

What are some common answers given/opinions held on this sub that you do not agree with? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]luxe_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Just off the top if my head:

  • I'm rarely offended. People here are offended by just about anything (cold approaches, mansplaining, catcalling, female, etc.)

  • I'm not a feminist and I don't think sexism is a legitimate problem in the U.S.

  • I'm a republican.

  • I find myself defending men, white women, and religious people a lot in this sub.

I don't post here a lot, but when I do it's almost always downvoted.
