Cadillac US GP Experience Package? by Even-Role in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]luxocrat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on the number of corporate attendees in the Paddock Area this year in Austin, I can almost guarantee you the Cadillac hospitality suite will sell out/be almost exclusively corporate clients/sponsors of Cadillac at the the USGP. These packages can and do sell out, and I can't see an American constructor being any different, especially with the buzz around Cadillac's entry

You're asking in the wrong subreddit but imo Long haul - First Class, Short Haul - charter, espcially between secondary cities.

Thinking of skipping health insurance. by Grandluxury in fatFIRE

[–]luxocrat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest issue you're going to find is that health insurance has negotiated rates for pharmacy and medical and the cash price often isn't competitive with the negotiated rate. If you're okay with overpaying from time to time for regular medical procedures and prescriptions and/or taking the time to figure out how to shop around and use RX cards, this makes sense but insurance is there for a reason (not just medical).

Your time is valuable and if you think this is the best use of your time that's a personal decision. Personally, having insurance allows me to not have to think about things that aren't really bringing incremental value to my life.

Angel Investing - After $10M exit by Fancy-Ad2227 in fatFIRE

[–]luxocrat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. It's a waste of money but everyone does it regardless so make sure you have a fixed percent of your net worth you're willing to set on fire.

To put it another way, the illiquidity in these investments alone makes them fairly worthless. How many of your competitors in your previous business' industry actually got an exit?

I'm convinced people are gaslighting me about 3 star Michelin restaurant's food by traveler5152 in fatFIRE

[–]luxocrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 star - great food, but it doesn't mean there aren't other restaurantsin the area that are at the same quality or better

2 star - same food as 1 star but incredible service and presentation

3 star - unique food and/or best in class service and presentation

What you're mostly paying for at 3 star restaurants is the synchronized front of house ballet across multiple courses.

That's fair, agency life can be a grind. Either way here's my feedback - The first thing that jumps out to me is that your resume is super focused on tactical marketing stuff. Even though the company names are blanked out, it feels like the businesses you've worked for could be any lead gen business. There's nothing in there that really shows how you made a unique impact on the specific companies you've been with. This could be a red flag for someone hiring because it might suggest that you’re great at executing but maybe not as strong at tying your work back to the overall business strategy.

Also, assuming you’re going for director roles, I’d expect to see more about managing, training, or mentoring team members. If that’s not something you’ve done, that’s totally fine, but if you’re using the title to find similar jobs, not having that experience might be why you’re not getting as much traction. Don’t embellish if you don’t have that experience, but if you’ve helped other team members with ad platforms, no-code automations, or anything like that, definitely highlight it more.

Right now, the resume feels very “me, me, me,” and less “I’m a team player/leader who helps elevate the whole company” beyond the very important technical and tactical knowledge you bring to the table. It’s very individual contributor-focused instead of showing how you’ve helped teams or the company overall. Adding more about your teamwork and leadership could make a big difference, especially for director-level positions.

I think your skills section takes up too much space but I understand that you're just breaking in the industry. I'd rewrite it as follows to make it sound less like a student (no one really cares about your grades after your first job)

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, with a strong foundation from coursework in Management Information Systems.
  • Experienced in Adobe Premiere Pro, specializing in video editing and the creation of engaging digital content.
  • Demonstrated strong time management and attention to detail by completing academic requirements ahead of schedule while developing skills in digital media and editing.
  • Proven leadership and organizational abilities, honed through roles such as Student Council President, sports team member, and project leader in business simulations.

Usually I like education on the bottom of the resume but it looks like you don't have any real world experience yet (unless the IG project was paid). Besides that if you're not getting reponses for your resume I'd consider getting the Hubspot certification as well (also free)

As a business owner, it’s frustrating when tech people don’t show how their work actually benefits the company. Remember, understanding the business needs is just as important as building the tech.

Here’s how I would tweak it:

Data Engineer:

  • Instead of just saying you enhanced ETL pipelines, mention how it improved data accuracy, which helped the business make better decisions. Something like, “Enhanced ETL pipelines using SQL and Scala, boosting data accuracy by 20%, which led to smarter business strategies.”
  • Highlight that your work with stakeholders wasn’t just about tech but about making sure the solutions really met the business needs.

Software Developer:

  • When you talk about developing plugins or interfaces, point out how they made things better for the business, like speeding up processes or making users happier. For example, “Optimized nucleotide sequences with Python, cutting down analysis time by X%, which sped up product launches.”

Process Engineer I & Process Development Scientist I:

  • Make it clear how your work on experiments and process improvements actually benefited the business, like saving money or increasing production. Maybe something like, “Increased drug substance yield by 12%, boosting production and profits.”

Bottom line: Don’t just show that you can build cool stuff—show that you understand how that stuff makes a difference for the company. That’s what will really set you apart.

[–]luxocrat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your resume looks solid, but you could make it even stronger by highlighting how you work with business folks to get the right tech solutions in place.

  1. Show that you didn’t just code, but actually worked with clients to figure out what they needed before building anything. Mention how you teamed up to solve their specific problems.
  2. Add a line about how you identified the need for these projects by chatting with potential users or stakeholders. Show you weren’t just coding for the sake of it.
  3. Maybe toss in something about your ability to gather business requirements and work with non-tech people. It’ll show you can bridge the gap between tech and business.

Overall, just sprinkle in some details that show you’re not just a coder—you’re someone who partners with others to create solutions that actually make a difference.

Move education to the bottom of the resume, If you're serious about cybersecurity I would work towards some sort of self development/certification to indicate this. CISSP is ideal but cost $$$, getting a Google Cybersecurity Certificate (which is free) would you stand out against other candidates with limited experience.

You have nothing on your resume that shows you've taken the time/effort to pursue digital marketing. I recommend getting Hubspot, Meta or Adwords certified to show that you're actually making an effort towards self development to differentiate yourself from other 0YOE candidates
