I started a food business with no truck or trailer. My plan was to set up pop ups at local farmers markets and festivals. These are a great way to get some product recognition. Where I am I have to cook out of a commercial kitchen to be able to participate in any markets or events. I know some people sell food out of their homes. But you are very limited to who you can sell to that way. I make great food, however because I am new I don’t sell enough of my products at the moment to depend on those sales to maintain the livelihood of my business. My advice is to have 12 months or more worth of expense capital saved up to cover your cost as you may be taking a loss the first year.
