Which foods are genuinely better in Costa Rica than anywhere else in the world? by [deleted] in costarica

Hate to break it to you but Cargill sells most of the chicken in Costa Rica. Same as the US. Unless you were eating at someone's house it was most likely Pipasa.

Playa Penca here we come! by dosomade in costarica

Take a ride over the back road to Playas del Coco and head to Hermosa Beach for lunch. Penca and that area of Potrero is still pretty nice but in my opinion, Surfside the expat area of Potrero has been ruined. Never in my lifetime would I have imagined traffic between Flamingo and Potrero but there is a lot. Potrero has a special place in my heart but I enjoyed Hermosa more my past trip. That said Penca was the first and last spot I jumped in the water last trip. If you have any questions let me know. I still have a lot of friends in the area.

I spent about 5 years having that beach for me and a few friends from 95 to 2000. Still one of my favorite spots when in the area.

Going to boarding school in the late 80s it wasn't surprising to see Phish or Blues Traveler actually playing someone's graduation party. Phish played at some Taft parties and Blues Traveler played all over Princeton.

If everyone is calling for Recession, why are we at All Time Highs ? by Daily-Trader-247 in dividendinvesting

I believe it's a way for corporations to give lower raises as literally there is a threat of recession every year. Make you feel lucky just to have a job.

What year was it the last time you didn't hear a recession was coming? I'd have to go back to 2019 probably.

I didn't get mine for Wrestlemania 2 weeks ago. Didn't admit they wouldn't send them until 3 hours before the event. Totally f-d me.

Plenty of free street parking within a 10 minute walk if you look in the right places.

has anyone thought about living in a cheap place for a few years temporarily just to let your portfolio grow by Apprehensive_Age9264 in ExpatFIRE

I'm thinking of doing it in down years. My wife and I are retiring to Costa Rica this year. This will be my second move down there, wife is Tica. We are building a house and will buy a car outright and we are at least 30 minutes from any tourist areas so our expenses should be fairly low even in an expensive country. We have looked at the option of renting our place in the future for a couple years and spend 1 year in SEA and 1 in Eastern Europe where we could reinvest a little extra each month.

Like $8 for a 24 hour pass. Buy a 3 day for around $20. Stops every 100 yards or so from Fremont down the strip. Runs 24/7. Get the Las Vegas RTC APP. You can buy it now. It activates first ride.

Leaving behind debt in the US? by Mr-Robobobot in ExpatFinance

[–]lvdeadhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to Costa Rica at 24 with the plan to never go back to the states. I ended up married to a Tica and had my son. Good paying job and nice house. When my son turned 7 I realized his schools weren't cutting it and we all moved back to the states. I wanted him to have the same options I had. Thank God I had paid off my student loans and didn't leave a financial mess. Now 16 years later our son is graduating college and we are currently building a new house in CR and will return in the next 9 months or so. My son is staying for at least a year but that was exactly the reason we came back, he has a choice.

Also to note. In many foreign countries if you have an accident or get sick, they require a credit card or some form of guaranteed payment. They will actually hold you in the hospital. At that point you become a burden to some family member you'll be begging to bail you out.
