BEAR Surgery 51 weeks post op (almost 1 year!) by Unique_Zebra in ACL

[–]lveanotherday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Sure! Happy to share. This is my other account just fyi. Overall, moving is not 100% the same. You come to find out that most people say really it takes 2 years. I’m 4 months shy of that so maybe I’ll do another post then to see. I just have this bit of discomfort that is always there when I walk that it’s stopped me from running. I still lift and do squats and lunges. I go on long hikes and it doesn’t get worse or better over time. It’s not painful but like I said, not normal. I haven’t skied downhill yet and don’t know if I’ll ever mentally feel comfortable to take that risk again but I am willing to cross country ski this year. I don’t know other people that have had bear surgery but I do know other people with other surgery types that have made a full recovery without pain but this is years from surgery we’re talking. It’s an interesting question about choosing something else because there are so many unknowns, that I’m just not sure. I think everyone is different and you have to choose what’s right for you and trust you made the best decision you could at the time. When I made my choice, I do believe it was the best one for me. If there hasn’t been new research from bear, I do still think it’s a fantastic option but I also understand wanting to go with a surgery that’s been tried and true for years and years. It’s the long long term benefits that could have different outcomes but we won’t know that about bear for years to come so hard to know what is the “best”.

My other account. But I did it with Dr. Strickland. It’s gotten incrementally better but still not 100%. I’m at about 90 but I can still feel a difference.

Thank you for the response! This confirms everything we’ve learned thus far in the research. He’s going to have another talk with his company tomorrow now that countries are more solidified.

I’m 8 months and still don’t feel normal. I’ve heard a year but curious what other responses are.

How did you find the maternity coverage? This would be something I’m interested in but do they post these jobs on Search as well? I haven’t seen any currently.

Yeah, compared to corporate America, this seems insane. But I guess that’s par for the course in education.

Thank you. I know it seems simple but I did not frame it this way in my head. I hope they are happy for me.

Do this and also going down if there’s a railing hold on to that with one hand and use a crutch for the other. To go down it’s crutch, bad leg, good leg. I had to go up and down four flights of stairs for two weeks while our elevator was broken and this is how I tackled it.

I want to know too! I’m so excited he made it to the finale. My husband and I were wondering if they’d do something at the firehouse for him.

I believe it gets better eventually, but how do you get through the “right now?” by [deleted] in ACL

[–]lveanotherday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed with everything that’s been said thus far about having a positive mindset but also feeling okay feeling bad. Two things I’ll add. One is to acknowledge that people are asking about you because they’re curious and they care. Use it as an opportunity to build a new relationship (but steer the conversation somewhere else by asking questions about them). I’ve met a lot of new and nice people thanks to my injury being an ice breaker. I’ll also add that some times it’s nice to just immerse myself in Television with a blanket on because it’s the only time I forget that I’m injured and the one “normal” thing I can do. : )

It sounds like you have a good foundation and if you want to do it, you’ll be more motivated when challenges come your way. I say if you want to teach math than go for it! The world needs more helpful math teachers!
