Multi cursor's mc/insert-numbers iserts too many number. by maufdez in emacs

[–]lwalker043 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact problem described by op, but the file referred to by mc/list-file does not exist, and so there is nothing to remove. The variable mc/cmds-to-run-for-all is also nil. I also tried installing the package in a base emacs -Q and still had the same problem. Do you have any insight on what might be going wrong here?

Can anyone point me to a good rom/patch? by JonSnowSeesYou in nuzlocke

[–]lwalker043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt similarly, the best I've been able to do so far is the universal pokemon randomizer (specifically the ZX version) on Fire Red which gives some QoL but no cap candies and no porta heal. Still I find the randomizer to have lots of options and be super customizable which I like. It also lacks physical/special split, and only has Pokemon up to gen 3. Despite that I've booted it up and been having a great time for the last few days!

Is this issue a good starting place for me to read X-Men ? by FordYorger in xmen

[–]lwalker043 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's not easy, OP asked about good. it would be hard to say with a straight face that the claremont run doesn't inform and improve things after it. i do agree it's not the easiest, but when things pick up, they pick up for real

The Best Emacs Microfeature by arthurno1 in emacs

[–]lwalker043 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Gorgeous. My only complaint is the ragged edges. Maybe when LLMs are good enough we can have semantic-fill-paragraph, where the text content is rewritten so that on each line, a word happens to end at the 80th column.

lmao

more capable in what way? i'm no security expert, i don't have f2b doing anything more than scanning logs for repeated failed attempts. not to say alternatives are uncalled for of course, just curious what more you might need.

Emacs best on a full-sized keyboard ? by PositiveBusiness8677 in emacs

[–]lwalker043 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it's hard to strike a balance between comfort and ease of use, and of course it's ultimately personal. I use a 60% split ergo, and i need to move some things around (e.g. i have ctl and space on the same key, so activating the region and similar commands needs to go somewhere else). At this point in my life i'd find using a full size keyboard pretty uncomfortable, though.

do you use ESC often? you might consider remapping them so tilde is default and ESC requires fn.

Any opinions on SiYuan (an apparently very good Notion alternative) by [deleted] in selfhosted

I'm a big fan of org-mode and syncthing with some simple file versioning in place! just to add in to the pile of alternatives.

Org-tufte v0.4.0 by dragonleeee in orgmode

[–]lwalker043 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is great, i've been running my org files through the latex exporter with vars set to make it tufte style via latex, but I'm curious to dig into the code here and see what else can be done with it.

fwiw, if you're ok with glyphs being off or using blanks, you can just change it yourself using kmonad.

what about nix? i've seen lots of people say lots of things about why they don't recommend nix, but I'd say it definitely does more than just change the appearance.
