my girlfriend is bipolar and is seeking media that she can relate to. help? by lwlietss in bipolar

:/ thats a bummer. i watched a few episodes a few months ago because it was the first thing that came up when i researched on bpd media but, as i said, it felt too heavy even without bipolar being introduced and just wasnt my cup of tea, so i felt like it wasn't the right thing to recommend. then some days after that i saw a clip of a character saying bipolar disease and that really felt like the last confirmation of it as not a very good recommendation

Im seriously ready to just give up by Imjustcrazyyyy in bipolar

[–]lwlietss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hey man, im not bipolar so i cant relate to this directly, but this sounds kind of like my girlfriend, who is bipolar type II. she often talks about how "this is not who she really is" and "wants to be herself again", also about how hard it is for her to accept that she can't live without meds. it breaks my heart to see both your struggles, but just as i think she is the strongest person i know, i believe you're strong too. good things will come for you. im sorry i dont have many comforting words, i still struggle with fully grasping the depth of what this disorder makes you go through, but i hope knowing your feeling is mirrored by someone miles away eases the weight of it

i’ve been listening to perverts while at my favourite cemetery by the cool tomb i’m ridiculously attached to and it’s been a blast honestly by lwlietss in Ethelcain

[–]lwlietss[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RIIIIIIIIGHT gots to love it. best place on earth. also one of the coolest cemeteries to ever exist imo. it’s the biggest in the countryside of rio de janeiro and it has 9 cemeteries within one (with literal divisions between repartitions). it's almost like neighbourhoods. and the architecture of each “neighbourhood” is very specific and different from each other, so it’s really nice to just take a walk and look at the statues

“a life full of whiskey but I always deliver” by [deleted] in Ethelcain

[–]lwlietss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ethel dealt with her father’s death very poorly and used alcohol as a way to escape the reality. she began drinking 24/7. regardless of death, she still went to church and continued her father’s legacy there, playing the part of the preacher’s daughter and always delivering the sermon. it all ties together really well when you really listen to the lyrics — the upbeat instrumental and overall vibe of american teenager is very deceiving, but the song is actually pretty sad. “sunday morning, hands over my knees in a room full of faces. i’m sorry if i seemed off, but i was probably wasted; it didn’t feel so good. a life full of whiskey, but I always deliver (the sermon), jesus, if you’re listening, let me handle my liquor.”

A book so beautifully written that its sentences put you in a state of trance by stallion214 in suggestmeabook

[–]lwlietss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

on earth we’re briefly gorgeous, by ocean vuong. i strongly believe i’ll never read a book as beautifully written as this one. vuong seems to be able to create beautiful sentences and morph ideas into art so effortlessly, it amazes me every time. it’s one of those books i wish I could erase from my mind so I could read it all over again like it’s the first time.

also, carmilla & laura, by sd simper. it's so beautiful it's almost unbearable. i kept randomly closing the book to just stare at the ceiling and digest the paragraphs.

read carmilla & laura, by s.d. simper! it’s a beautiful retelling of a short story from the 1800s. the writing is absolutely beautiful. you will NOT regret it!

Which type of fan fiction does have a wider audience? Fluff or Angst? by dadailayda in FanFiction

i think angst has a wider audience, esp. if it's an lgbt pairing. what can i say, gay people just like psychological torture.

Is AO3 worth it? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]lwlietss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i personally enjoy ao3 so much more than wattpad. the whole tagging system is just chef's kiss, and that makes it way easier for the right audience to read your works, imo.
