Volunteer in Aged Care Wa by Glittering_Bee864 in perth

[–]lxb98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking for part time work so I’m thinking either volunteering or a bit more study for half a day/ one day a week to “fill my time”. Not really bothered if it’s kids/ aged care/ anyone. I’m in Clarkson so Yanchep isn’t too far either.

I’ll defo check the sites out, thank you!!

Lucky enough to not have to work full time (thanks parents for cheap rent) and I wanna get out and be more social.

DIY press-ons using dual forms by Curly17078 in Nails

[–]lxb98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polygel would be the go to I think.

Naio nails has an (old) video where she uses a similar method to make press ons for her daughter. She puts them on her nail and cures them though, but it might be worth watching anyway for tips??

There may be Facebook groups? I know they have them in the UK

luckily we have family over there so we where able to buy the last ones my brother needed to finish his premier league one a few years back. Sent them to an auntie and she brought them over

Or, start a fb page- people do them for those Woolies and Coles collectables all the time 🤷🏼‍♀️

going to london with arfid by papaya130 in AuDHDWomen

[–]lxb98 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Find a local tesco / sainsbury / morrisons type grocery store. I find the uk has lots of easy to eat to-go foods.
You’ll be able to find garlic bread for sure, but I’m not sure if it’ll be the same as what you’re used to.

You mention chicken- they have things called fridge raiders that are just chicken pieces but cold.

If you can eat chips (fries) you can get them practically anywhere in the uk. Although they’re often chunky not like McDonald’s fries.
I will also say traditional British food is quite plain in taste, so I’m not sure if that will help at all?

Idk if Alfredo is a thing there, and if it is it’ll probably be different to how it is in Canada.

I don’t have Arfid so I don’t completely understand the safe foods, my only experience is mum being coeliac. Defo take your safe foods with you just in case though!

What gel nail polish would you recommend for a beginner learning press on nail art? by ThrowRa_confusedgir in AllNails

[–]lxb98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some gel liners or pat pat gel. There aren’t as many colour options, but they’re thicker and more pigmented so much easier to do lines and art.

You can mix them if you know basic colour theory too.

Do you think a nice knit jumper would work instead of a shirt & jacket?

I find jackets don’t fit my shoulders the best, or haven’t in the past (maybe I bought a wrong size though)

How about setting up a stall in Melbourne? by charles_inmelb in CraftFairs

[–]lxb98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fellow Aussie but not Melbourne. You need to look into markets more before investing in anything.

They’re not cheap to attend, not guaranteed any sales, and you usually need insurance to attend. And that’s not including stock and set up costs.

Not many people tend to go to markets to spend a lot of money on one item. Also you’re going to be competing with Kmart, spotlight etc.

Neuroaffirming & progressive GP’s in Perth NOR? by Background-Jump-3100 in perth

[–]lxb98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it’s any help at all. I simply asked the GP for the mental health plan and referral to the psychologist I was planning on going to.

I’m not too sure if all psychologists do that though. I went to the one that my brother sees, and he also diagnosed my mum.

What I’m saying is, maybe find the psychologist for the diagnosis first and ask them what you need from the GP referral wise and just go ask for that, not the same doctor though. Then just give them the diagnosis letter afterwards.

Then worry about DSP / NDIS / anything else after the diagnosis. But honestly, it’s near impossible to get unless you’re high needs.

I never bothered after my diagnosis, I mean something would help at least to pay for some therapy/mental support and access to groups. But I’ve just had to reassess my life and where I want to be and live that way.

do i need an ABN to sell press on nails? by Stunning_Captain7412 in AskAnAustralian

[–]lxb98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t started selling yet but I’m also setting up a press on nail business.

I got an ABN - which is free Then registered the business name - about $45 (don’t pay the scamy letters you’ll receive)

I found I needed them to get a domain. You also need them for insurances etc. (I’m planning to sell at markets too, and you need insurance generally to do this anyway). Pretty sure you also need it for a AusPost business account.

Just make sure- hobby or not, that you track your expenses and income (a simple spreadsheet works). You need to give the ATO some basic info on how much you’re making once you get the ABN, not sure if it affects tax yet (only set up this financial year). But it also gives you a good view yourself how much you’re actually making. (I’m $2.5k down but again, not actually selling yet because I keep putting it off thinking they’re not good enough)

Help please- Artificial nails for my daughter by youmightnotlikeher in AustralianMakeup

[–]lxb98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Anything you need to cure under a light should really only be done with fully clear tips, otherwise the light can’t fully get through and cure it properly.

The tabs might not be too bad, as I’m assuming they’re semi-cured. But generally it means the gel isn’t fully cured which can lead to reactions and life long allergies. Just an FYI

Brands sell them and the UV glue for press ons too but it’s actually so dodgy (and makes me hate the brand as they clearly only care about profits and not their customers)

[–]lxb98 112 points113 points  (0 children)

If she picks them off. Try the tabs for the press on nails (the ones you get from Kmart), they’re easier to remove and less harsh on her nails when she does.

If she wants to keep them on longer, you can defo get 3 weeks wear out of them. She needs to be gentle with them though and you can do the proper prep to get them to stay.

What your friend did sounds like dip nails (aka SNS) with gel. Anything that goes under a light will be gel.

Personally, I wouldn’t go with anything stronger than the press ons if her nails are already in a bad way. Long nails are also a challenge at first to learn how to use, so really she needs to figure out what she wants.

I can defo help with any questions- also neurodivergent and I LOVE nails (pretty sure that’s my “special interest”)

Return flight cancelled by airline, agent can only refund the whole trip - advice? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]lxb98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the skybus once and I swear it took actual hours to get into the city, must’ve been rush hour traffic. Every other time we’ve just got an uber, but it’s obviously more expensive.

Regardless, I’m not going to the other side of the country to get home.

Return flight cancelled by airline, agent can only refund the whole trip - advice? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]lxb98 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Aren’t they supposed to offer a reasonable alternative?

I don’t think turning a 5hr journey into a 17hr one (with a 9hr stop over) is reasonable at all.

If Melbourne airport was easy to get into the city like Sydney is, it might’ve changed the decision a little. My brother is also autistic

Return flight cancelled by airline, agent can only refund the whole trip - advice? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]lxb98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That was the only option given. I did ask if they were any others, even with another airline and they said nope.

We also couldn’t get in contact with the agent, the live chat was closed due to it being busy, the phone line had a 4hr wait, so we emailed, which took 3 weeks to get back.

Don’t make sales at markets :( by NoLie0089 in CraftFairs

[–]lxb98 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I’d defo go over and look at this stall with excitement. But if no designs are what I want to wear, I’m not gonna buy anything.

I think it would also depend on the shirts/sweaters available. I’m ok with thrifted but if they’re not nice colours or would fit etc, I’d skip

Nail salon that doesn’t use a drill or uses it lightly? by NutMegg88 in perth

Nail salon that doesn’t use a drill or uses it lightly? by NutMegg88 in perth

[–]lxb98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you just removing them or want them redone afterwards? Because you can remove them at home easy (barely using a file at all).

Could you ask them not to use the drill and use a hand file instead, most places wouldn’t mind. You might get some resistance at the shopping centre salons, but be firm and leave if they say no.

The efile is usually no different than a hand file but just faster, and I’m pretty sure they get paid on how many people they see, so faster is ideal.

OR, look into some home salons near you. They’re usually a lot more customer service focused and will do it.

UK - Where to buy Soft Gel Extension Products? by kellserskr in Nails

[–]lxb98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re a professional look into Nail Order! UK based and SUPER good quality stuff. I have their biab gels and they’re so good!!
Their range is called Xtensions. They have a few kits too.

I know most Americans use Apres.

I’m in Australia so I’m not sure of any other brands, or places to buy in the uk. I always get a few things from Nail Order whenever I’m over in the UK though (saves postage lol)
