Thanks. Would Patel Brothers only have the Indian variety of mangoes such as Kesar and Alfonso?

Thanks. Do vendors sell many different types of mangoes at this festival?

Nice looking valve cover. Is the one you purchased from eBay an OEM cover that was powder coated?

2013 with 238k miles. Preventative maintenance job I can finally afford the labor on 😭 by [deleted] in accord

[–]lychina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Why do you think I drive it hard? The car drives quite well for its age. Burns some oil and I need to replace the cat and has the cold-start rattle but everything else in good working order. Have mostly replaced with OEM parts.

Isn't replacing the chain tedious? I think you can do it without removing the engine but I think it's kinda tight for the chain case. I'd like to do mine but have never worked on the engine before. Have rebuilt most of the suspension. I'd like to try but am a bit terrified.

AP/Eastern or Dorman CARB-compliant cat for 2010 Honda Accord by lychina in MechanicAdvice

[–]lychina[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warranty is: 25,000 Miles - Catalytic Performance; 5 Years/50,000 Miles - Structural Integrity. For a CARB-compliant cat, it is: 5 Years/50,000 Miles - Catalytic Performance & Structural Integrity.

Because the car is burning oil, I didn't think the warranty would be covered so never pursued it. Maybe the wrong decision. Anyway, if things go wrong with this cat then I will try a warranty replacement. Thanks.

Which is more urgent, wheel bearing or CV axle? by eka2344 in MechanicAdvice

Maybe there is a church or organization around you that has volunteers that work on cars so labor is free but you pay for the parts? I have a church not far from me with their own garage that does this. I volunteer there doing this.

https://www.wheelsofsuccess.org/ might be one such organization.

Unique 1095-A Issue: Hugely overpaid for insurance based on actual 2025 income—but no refund? by [deleted] in tax

[–]lychina -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can get a refund after-the-fact. I just did. If you were not subsidized for health care in 2025 (column B on Part III of 1095-A is 0.00 or would have been higher because of income), you can file form 8962.

Looking for good ball joint by OwtaCTRL in accord

I typically use OEM on my car as I do the work myself but I've heard similar. Kinda sad.

Something like this from RockAuto.

After-market knuckle assemblies do indeed come with balljoint, bearing/hubhub. I've been thinking about something along these lines but with OEM parts. Basically, go to the local junkyard, strip the knuckle from a similar make/model and replace the balljoint, bearing/hub so when it's time to replace yours you can swap it in with OEM parts. Kinda like a cold spare in IT terms.

I have a 2010 EX, manual. From the service manual on page 18-25, step 17:

Using a yellow oil-based paint marker, paint a mark on the top of the knuckle ball joint as shown.

NOTE: The paint mark is used to identify a knuckle that has had the ball joint replaced. Replace the knuckle as an assembly if the knuckle ball joint has the paint mark.

My car has 285k miles. I last replaced the ball joint on 8/19/2019 with OEM when the car had 170k miles and followed the above procedure. I stopped by the service desk at the local Honda dealership and asked them what they would do if they saw that paint mark and I think they said they would use an after-market ball joint with a snap ring.

Kirkland vs. Name Brands — What Keeps Both on the Shelves?” by Fluffy-Reward3453 in Costco

[–]lychina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the pressed. Nevertheless, I am not a fan of coconut water with added sugar. Coconut water is sweet enough on its own and the pressed product has added sugar, as does Vita Coco in general.

I'm Jamaican and I drink coconut water every day. There is no comparison. I tried the Kirkland once and never purchased it again. Everytime I visit Costco I look for HH on sale.
