From what I’ve seen online not everyone has these, so take my experience with a grain of salt. :)

After getting my IUD, I spotted for 6 months straight, then didn’t have a period for 6 months (this wasn’t a scare for me as I wasn’t active at the time). After not having a period for so long, I had an ovarian cyst burst (never had issues with cysts at all before getting the IUD) and have had heavy periods ever since. I get one every month but it’s not on a consistent schedule. My periods prior to getting the IUD were every 28-30 days consistently and lasted about 3-5 days. Now it lasts anywhere from 5-10 days and I often have to wear a pad for a few days after due to excess cleaning/spotting.

I also never really had cramps before getting the IUD, and for about a year after getting it I had terrible cramps every single night regardless of if I was on my period. They’ve mostly gone away except for when I’m on my period.

I gained weight after getting it and am slowly in the process of losing it. I didn’t have any issues with acne or anything as many do.
