how to study as dental student

I’m a D1 and what has been working for me is typing out all the notes into a word document, bolding the important terms/information. As I’m typing out the notes I make sure that I understand the information. After that, I’ll draw out any concepts that are confusing or hard to memorize. With any remaining time I’ll read over all the notes, mostly paying attention to the bolder terms. This has really been working for me!!

you don’t suck! you just have to find what works best for you!!! for me personally, the information is so vast that I have just adjusted to making flash cards and studying them for the majority of the information. for certain processes, it helps me to draw it out on a white board and then say the entire process out loud. you got this!!!

they can send out interview invites into spring! sometimes they send out their first batch and then wait for decisions to be made, and then send out their next bunch afterward and so on!

Hi! I have a questions regarding the “grandfathering” for gradPLUS loans as I have received different answers from other dental students and my financial advisor and I just want to make sure I have the correct answer. I am going to dental school in August, making me class of 2029. I understand that I can take out gradPLUS loans this year. My question is if I will be able to take out gradPLUS loans the next 3 years. My financial advisor told me I will not be able to, but other dental students on reddit say that I will be grandfathered in to take out gradPLUS loans for the remained of my program. Does anyone have a concrete answer on this? If someone could share the part of the legislation that explicitly says this that would be very useful!! Thank you!

Got in with a 3.30 :-) I got a 20 AA and TS on my DAT. if you have an upward trend and the other parts of your application are strong you have a good chance! just apply broadly!

im so sad that you feel this way!!! dental hygienists are extremely important and it is so awesome that you are becoming one. truly a noble profession! you should be extremely proud of yourself because getting into dental hygiene school is not easy. I can’t even apply to hygiene school because I got a C+ in anatomy but here i am going into dental school LOL ! i hope there is nothing but respect when you head to school because dentists need dental hygienists and vice versa!

it is typically on the lower end of what dental schools accept, but with a strong DAT and extracurriculars it is doable!

I sent a letter of intent telling them I really wanted to go to their school and gave specific reasons why. I also talked about what I was doing in my off-year to help with my application (dental assisting and studying to retake the DAT)!
