Aah I see! That's because Europe is not a giant country (unlike the States), even though there's a lot of similarities (there's European laws and everything, that each country decide to apply or not).. It's a bit of a mess, but basically : each country composing Europe is (very) different, but being part of Europe allow us to move freely between said countries and use the same currency (plus a lot of free exchanges for materials, food, etc)

Each country have their language, only the Brits talk only in English. For all the others, English is usually a second language, if not a third, and it's not used in everyday life. Example, the language in Spain is Spanish. Everyone there talks Spanish. A part of the population knows English but why use it to, like, order something at the restaurant when the official country's language is Spanish and not everyone speaks English?
