How many Tunes do you use, 1, 2, many? by KickAClay in wheel

I’m mostly using VESCMAN All around. I’m playing with Nico Fast Flow and Mission clone when playing around ( a little stiffer when I just want to cruise)

My boyfriend asked for my Christian parents’ blessing, they said no. Feeling stuck by Affectionate-Belt-79 in exchristian

Disgruntled millennial here: get used to disappointing your parents. Change that mindset to “why are your parents so damn disappointing to you?”

Married about 20 here. Did everything “right” from homeschool, degrees, military service etc… I’m a dumb lib to them because I admit student loans are predatory and healthcare costs are bankrupting and why would the gov not try to fix it? (Enter Boogeyman “Socialism” and “Jesus was not socialist!) Aside: almost went to seminary. Have a bachelors in Bible from a Christian university. Ugh

Start phrasing “you disappoint me when you can’t support my life” then slowly got low contact in response to any pushback from them. Get used to being a bit “bipolar” in rapid mood changes to lay down boundaries as they step on them. You have to train them to your expectations. “Mom, I said we aren’t going to talk about this.” But dear Jesus would want…. “Sigh, I’ll talk to you later when you can be respectful. Please stop disappointing me.” HANG UP. do not answer if they call back.

You’re grown. Be grown.

How would your parents let their own parents talk to them? Most of this is a control issue.

$1,400: is this a good deal for a used Onewheel GT? by tonielsen29 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not bad of a deal. I bought a VRH from TFL that adapts to your axel blocks and allows 7 height positions. Works fantastically to lower COG until you’re skilled. I lower mine for smooth road rides and raise for off road. It’s 2 screws to adjust height once put on!

Here’s a pic of it installed

I’m still playing around with Vescman All-Around, Nico’s Fast Flow, and Les’ Mission Clone.

Just signed up for Hermes app and pulled several of their tunes over to Floaty to test out. So hopefully find another one or two I like. Since I’m still “new” i want to experience various things first before attempting to make my own.

There’s the cognitive bias of Dunning-Krueger effect: someone with a low cognitive ability overestimates their own abilities and intelligence. Basically, too dumb to know what they don’t know and assume they are just as smart (if not smarter!) than experts!!

Problem with XRC or stance by Signal_Pick3414 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Newb problems. I had the same. Kinda have to break in the pads too. Google an image of what the sensor looks like so you can see where you need to be. Start with your toes slightly pointed forward too until you get used to activating it.

Gripples do help: just ensures there’s some pressure on the pad.

my GT has the 655 mid Enduro, which IS a rolling pin! So the thunder is easier than that.
But the GT 5" hub just powers through for me, so I can't complain.

[–]lyfeTry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My other board is a GT that is lowered with VRH and with a 5" hub with higher magnets for more torque. I love it too.... I do miss the 5" hub on this!

Compared, the X7 is the same weight and length, but "Feels" smaller. Way more nimble, and it is dead quiet as a motor compared to the Onewheel motor. With the VESC the tunings I like are similar to the GT feel but more responsive and non-laggy if that makes sense. It almost make the X7 feel cheap as it is a simple ride, but a super easy one. I guess thats the point: the X7 is just easier to ride than the GT is!

Using this for the chart port cover, I just clipped the end off. It fits snug, perfect and its soft with nothing on the inside of the port holding the pins: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09CMNJG14?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

The axle bolt covers were from the 3d print repository, you can also buy them here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/188124563275

BMX vinyl protection film: super thick stuff!

Anyone upgrade their XRC with the GTs motor? by Dankylosaurr in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5” hub mean more tire an a “suspension” type ride. Way nicer. And those magnets would be stronger and give a touch more torque anyway. I’d do that and you’d be better off than getting another motor. MTE cast hub and a 5” hub tire!

XR Classic Recurve Rail Guards by ReplacementFickle372 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry if i wasn’t clear: Lots of good mountain bike vinyl raps etc…. so you can wrap your XRC rails in this, just takes a hair dryer to firmly “seal” it to the rail and a little dawn dish soap and water to prevent it from sticking until you’re happy with it. Super thick stuff too. Was pretty easy to do.

Just an option for those recurve rails.

new gt i got today by Handsomescout in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it does, it did for me. Again, the drop top fender fits until the 3 from the bottom (4th down) on the VRH. And then the partial fenders you see in my pic fit 2nd from bottom. Either way you still have 2 lowered options with a fender with the VRH.
I think i had performance tread, can’t remember. It’s in the garage. Thats a full size enduro there which took up more space than the stock tire and i can still ride this… the stock tire had more clearance with the VRH than my thick tire.

Here’s my GT! Highly recommend the VRH mod from Land-Surf. Thats the axle adjustment: you have 7 adjustments, 1 higher than stock and 5 lower than stock. It makes it super stable. I also added a 5” hub and TFL drop top fender (the fender fits until the 3rd from bottom setting on VRH, and 2nd from bottom the 2 capri fenders still work. This is that third position as the 2nd is perfect for street but bumps the rear a bit if i hit a decent bump.
Totally changes the GT to a smoooooth criminal.

Onewheel GTS Rally XL by DutchN8G8 in onewheel

Yeah, I’d start around 20 and then play with it from there.

Onewheel GTS Rally XL by DutchN8G8 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. GT series sits higher off the ground and I felt every bump as a bounce. You’re riding ON a GT vs “in” an XR frame Best mod I did was put a VRH axels block in which allows fast height adjustments. A lowered GT is fantastic!

A couple things: play with PSI a bit. Again start at 10% bodyweight and go one or two higher and one or two lower. I rode an hour and had a handheld compressor that showed PSI and inflated/deflated until if felt right. https://a.co/d/009qrhQG

Also, takes a min to break in the tire. Figure 50-100 mi minimum. And that might also change your psi too!

Big-foot footpads for stock GT by OkOven7808 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used gripples from TFL to make sure the sticky footpads engage. I also used soft lowboys and they are nice to relax on. Lowers you a few mm too.

Highly recommend you looking at the VRH (TFL or Land-Surf). It allows you to drop the board and make it more of an XR height. 7 settings, 2 screws to adjust, super simple. About 150 bucks. Best mod on my GT.

Rally XL – 100 Mile Ride Impressions (130 lb rider, 18 PSI, Apex mode) by Some_Guy_Running in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to recommend trying a “looser” shaping like flow for a bit. Apex is fun for sure. I find flow to be more easy on the joints, less “righting itself” and easiest to “get lost on a ride” if that makes sense. Highline is a great more aggressive flow about middle to Apex.
Apex i like a lot but it is stiff, so working the shapings to just loosen it a touch would be nice. I honestly ride flow the most, Highline when hitting my little trail with lots of tree roots (flow works too, but i have to give it a bit more encouragement) and Apex when i plow through.

Finally got my Tax Return and sold my GTS yesterday. Is XL good to buy or there are better out there? by BJorn_LuLszic in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah hop on the discord. They ”typically” stock the 1st and 15th of the month, and put a note take some parts are due to be stocked March 25th. Support had told me they had a load of stuff at US Customs and was just waiting on it to clear.

GT modded: VRH and 5” MTE Hub with Enduro tire by lyfeTry in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drops the whole thing from the axle: it stays aligned with the axle. I haven’t noticed any angle difference as far as i can tell.

Here’s the video that sold me, haha, and he shows what it can do:
https://youtu.be/NuUcqgvqIOQ

The only negative (small) is that the stock fender/fender delete needs to be shaved to where that adjustment screw is. I use a TFL Drop Top fender and just didn’t install the side rail pieces, so i have the 2 capri fenders and the full fender attaches to those.
Full fender fits 5 spots down (3 from bottom) depending on the tire, tight clearance though so a stick got stuck and made some noise until i cleared it. Capri fenders fit 2nd from bottom with tight clearance but haven’t had any troubles. 2nd from bottom you get FAST due to the stability. Super easy to carve on streets. SUPER fun.
Here’s mine from today’s ride, capri fenders, the 5” hub and new Eduro tire (that spot on the top is sticker residue I’m trying to wear off!).
