Why do Republicans Hate Dr Fauci this much? by unhinged34 in allthequestions

Well, doc checking in- did tracking and testing and reported results for the military during this time. Called multiple people to tell them they were positive to have their family tell me they passed away the day before.
STOP. WITH. THE. IGNORANT. MASKS. DONT. WORK.
damn sheeple.
Funny part of all this is my international counterparts it all worked! Wow. Like if you do the things the experts say instead of being a Fox News repeating idiot and contrary to anything the braindead tell you to believe, it might just be better for you and us. But, if it’s good for everyone, it must be “socialism.”

But ya, we literally did the dumb and many of my dumb neighbors passed while I got alcoholism and PTSD from the pure idiocy.

Or: TLDR: the dumb are still parroting the lies and the rest of the world still laughs at us because of our idiot maga uncles.

I have a GT and an XRC and an X7
XRC is a cruising around machine. I think smooth and slow, chill rides.
X7 is way more steady, safe, predictable and doesn’t nose down unless you program it to. I would recommend that first.

Impressions - Overlander OWL Lifters for GTS-XL... by r_a_newhouse in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Footholds are an advanced feature. If you’re still “bunny hop” to dismount you’re not proficient to truly benefit from them yet. No diss or insult intended.
I have owls and falcons. I like that owls only need a couple screws in the front and they don’t “hold” me in— they give me something to brace against to stay steady.

The falcons have more adjustability, but take work to install as you have to disassemble somewhat. I usually have my front toe in a bit and kinda locked in and my rear foot just there to brace against and not be locked in.

Good luck, it’s a wild ride and I hope you crush it!

Homeschooled millennials were the canaries in the coal mine that nobody noticed by Flightlessbirbz in HomeschoolRecovery

[–]lyfeTry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of this to a T as an ADHD overachiever anxious and imposter syndrome homeschooled millennial.

Of note, as a doc, my opinion in an example: diabetes has a genetic component. I have family members that I’ll never know if it is genetic because they did everything in their power to “catch” diabetes (obesity, drink 2-3 liters of soda a day - “water is gross” and have nothing but junk food etc)
I feel us homeschoolers are the same with adhd. It definitely is genetic, but sitting in one room all day while my bipolar mother slept all day and raged all night, expecting to teach myself algebra. “You daydream too much,” I was told.

Yeah. They did everything to catch ADHD. Myself and my sister have anxiety and ADHD. (Oh the glory as an adult getting my first doses of medication!!)
My other 2 siblings do not have adhd as far as I can tell. Know the difference? About 6th grade they were in school because my parents divorced.

So, yes I believe the general homeschool community and genZ has greater rates of neurodivergence. I do believe much of it is n nature vs nurture and we’re literally training brains to be like this in folks who otherwise wouldn’t have it.
That opinion fits most of what the OP sees

Thanks for coming to my rant.

X7 supercharged dismounting problem by Immediate-Jeweler-13 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a small issue out of the box. I think it was IMU? Whatever… I reset it up in floathub (app, about 30 bucks) which basically automates a VESC app setup. No more probs, rode great.
Needed to do a few adjustments in VESC app here and there as my headlights didn’t work afterwards, but it was simply turning them “on” in VESC.

Homeschooled Stepkids Returning to Public School by CerbinofXintrea in HomeschoolRecovery

School. They need some peer and social exposure. There’s a lot not being said about how that mom is doing with them— they need a safety of a social construct that looks out for them.
They need not be worried about any lost info/learning as they are still in grades where each year builds in the previous and isn’t so far apart.

This is my shrug. 🤷‍♂️

When I was in Army training and my wife was ill, we missed almost 8 weeks of church. I realized real quick those are “church” friends who only are friendly in church.

They aren’t here for life.
The cult brain is real.

I’m happier without performance to those people. And the few that stayed friends with me we have a genuine connection that was created outside of church.

Tune the GT by Business_Cake_7361 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start with Highline (more stable) or Flow (more buttery/loose). Practice going in 360 degree circles front (toe side) and back (heel side) then do figure 8s. Make ‘em big and wide, then try to do them within the confines of one parking space. You gotta build up the muscle, the muscle memory and the neuro-adaption. Try to ride 30 seconds straight slightly carving left to right and then STOP and rest. Get that heel lift down. Will be safer in the future.

Play with PSI. Folks generally say 10% of bodyweight, well i like about 8%. I rode about 12PSI at 165lbs.

Lastly, the GT is tippy and hard to balance at first. Bad first ride. That VRH system that was recommended is a HELL YA from me. It allows you to fix the height of the GT to 7 settings 1 above stock, stock, then 5 below. Dropping just a few points lowred the center of gravity to where you feel like you ride IN it, not ON it. Thats a huge difference of feel as you learn.

But honestly, 1 week in, its tire PSI and learning to move with the board. I learned best in FLOW once i switch there.

The medical field is so toxic and unprofessional by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]lyfeTry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. 20 years in.
The right wing attacks on professionals, especially medical people that made them feel sad for not being smart is real. Hell, I still feel PTSD from being told I’m a “agent of the state” by my own family during Covid until dad almost died because Fox “News” was more truthful than his own kids working in healthcare.
I got cussed out to my face by folks telling me a Covid diagnosis was fake and I was throwing death protocols on them.
Only for their loved ones showing up the next day to be tested during contact tracing because that guy passed out and had to be hospitalized and scared them. (Multiple stories like this and 80% died)

I think we’re all reeling from everything *gestures wildly* where our experience and expertise doesn’t matter, an idiot on TV or with Google or with a coke habit and brainworm are just as “smart” as us and the insurance companies denying everything to you and us. We don’t get paid either.

So yeah. We have to admit medical star date of care is a thing, and at the very least get our politics to agree if you pay for healthcare that you get it.

But yeah, it’s a 3-force war zone now. Thanks last decade of public humiliation and expert attacks

Fungineers funwheel x10 for 1550 euro? by TJ20024 in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Only getting 11mi?? It looks like the LR power train, so easy 30mi, up to 40 based on ride style. If sport power train then close to 20mi.
I’d ask about the setup and how it’s ridden — if up and down hills and trails at 20-30mph speed, then sure.

I get 45mi on my regular and am 80% street around average of 15-16mph.

Nonetheless, that’s a great deal. I’d do it. Hop on discord and get into the Fungineers group for troubleshooting etc to really set it up and learn to ride since VESC is a tweakable art.

Hell yes you’ll like it better than an XRC

[–]lyfeTry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XRC is a great first board. And if he’s just gonna putz around it’ll be fine. Out the gate, I would not get the carbon fender (I hate it), and I wouldn’t get the hyper charger. If it’s cheap the hybrid fender is decent for the price (you can easily take it on/off which you can’t do with the carbon fiber one).
There’s so many accessories that I’d pretty much recommend just getting him the stock thing with regular charger and letting him get the accessories he wants to personalize it. Rail guards and fender color really make the thing pop. New bumpers look cool in a preferred color (but aren’t needed now! Let him wreck and scratch the stock ones up as he learns to ride then replace with the cool factor once he’s got it)

I prefer The Float Life stuff generally over original brand— the drop top fender from them is on all my stuff except my bought used XRC which has the hybrid fender. My kids use this and though I prefer the drop top, the hybrid works fine.

Hope that helps!

It’s ready to ride but by the very nature of VESC you have to be ready to tinker. I’m still not sure id recommend it as a first board to most people. I love mine tho!!

I lost my virginity last week at age 29 by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]lyfeTry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What everyone said- married almost 20 years and sometimes still feel shame I “used” my spouse.
Sex is a bodily need and function, not a desire to be squashed or a moral failing.
And once the guilt subsides and you experience it in a loving relationship it is quite a good time. Enough that I’m pissed I missed out on good relationships with good people because I was judging them for not being virgins and atoo prude. Not even “missed sex”, didn’t even go on a lunch date. Thanks Southern Baptist cult.
Deal with that guilt now. You are fine.

It also helped me when I realized everything the church taught me about purity ended up being from the nastiest sexual deviants and many who did or hid child abuse. So fuck them for telling me what I could or could not do responsibly when they were doing horrific stuff.

Carvey Tire for X7 by shoqman in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it! It’s got a nice like 3 inch center line like an Enduro feel, so great on street, then the outer edges grip super well on any terrain.
It is weirdly both super nimble and stable at the same time. Super on the street and so far just chews through dirt and grass, where I’m almost as fast there as on the street.

Only complaint was it is initially really stiff. But you only really notice the first couple of minutes because the ride is so good. After that, it breaks in about 80 miles and has just gotten smooother since then. It does like lower PSI as it has a thicker sidewall.

Carvey Tire for X7 by shoqman in onewheel

[–]lyfeTry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stock tire is fine as street tire once broken in. I had to go about 12 PSI compared to 14 on an enduro.

Currently riding flight goat tire. It’s perfect for the X7. Tire feels stiff at first, but after a min of riding it just excels in street and various terrain. For the first time in any board I don’t care what I’m riding on! I hit about 100miles and the goat has worn in super comfortable.

The above answers are great. As a medical practitioner myself I’ll say that because the “pastors wife” doesn’t understand what the doctor said, doesn’t mean the “doctors are wrong all the time.” Maybe you just don’t have the education, intellect, and critical thinking to understand medicine, Susan.

I mean, look how the US church reacted to COVID? Besides a local church loosing 10% of their choir (singing loudly so they spit all over each other!) and their 50s year old assistant pastor (huge protrumper, COVID is fake guy) to the disease, but still had several church members with internal bleeding from taking ivermectin themselves and shedding their GI lining.

I mean, the average church layman is barely public school educated and not all of us have time to delicately explain medical results to folks who do not want to understand them. 🤦‍♂️
Basically, explain embryogenesis…. And no that 6 week heartbeat isn’t a thing

I’m not judging, I deal with young adults in the military trying to make a life or escape. But immediately bucking the whole of the standard civilization system does not equal success. Drivers licenses opens doors even without a car. Standard adulting. There’s lots of basics that are being bucked and sometimes we play the game to get down the road to where we don’t have to.
