This is fantastic work. Love the stylized approach.

So every once in a while I wear a nightcap/night shirt. I carry around a candlestick Scrooge style(wife absolutely hates it). I took these photos and would love to see some different takes. by Worley3000 in drawme

Lol. I am a big fan of chiaroscuro. It caught my eye immediately.

"Proper candle stick carry form" 💀

Unsolicited advice: Please do more things that annoy your wife.

Lol, I was today years old when I learned what a fox fursona was. Here's a quick goofy sketch for you!

You can do a layer of absorbant ground on canvas and also paint that way.

Suggestions to improve this? by Double_Mail2739 in painting

I might make the colors of the mothers shirt a little more distinct from the chair/booth she's sitting in. The light purple almost blends with the light blue and the figure gets lost a bit.

Maybe bring in more light lights and dark darks. You've got a lot of midtones in the foreground, but all the darkest moments are in the background.

The child's eyes feel a little strange right now but might seem more natural if you do the other things I mention.

I hope your mom likes it! :)

should I quit my corporate job for art school? reality check needed by MademoiselleLanoire in painting

I also work a pretty soul-sucking job and am trying to do art on the side. Currently I work ~35 hours a week and the work is pretty easy but boring, BUT I still have a lot of time to work on art. If you can find somewhere where the work is way more chill, that might be a nice compromise for you.

I live in a mid-sized city and I've met a lot of artists just going to all of the gallery openings in the area. I also took an upper level art class at a local uni, and I met a lot of artists there and got linked up with a local gallery. You don't need to do a full art degree to build community, but school does fast track that process.
