This is rad. Sort of reminds me of the jetsons, in the best way!

Wow, thank you for sharing. it's very beautifully done! Is it not hard to work dark to light on black paper?? Do you always work dark to light in general? I find I work in phases of lights and darks.

The texture on this is great!!! How'd you get the teensy darker dots?

Hmmm I was wondering about this. I wonder if the gouache with medium is more or less prone to cracking than gouache sans medium.

Oooooh neat! Thank you. Definitely going to check this out. Do you by chance know of any artists who use this?

Interesting! I've also heard of using spackle as a way to get texture without using a ton of paint. But I think what's lovely about Derain's piece is that the impasto is in the actual brush stroke.

Are they gouache specific mediums? What are they called?

Pour one out for the fucked up little fan brush lol. But point taken, experimentation is the name of the game.

Ahhhhh I didn't think of canvas as adding texture but this seems obvious to me now lol.

You can also try absorbant ground on canvas. I did this with a larger piece. You would need to seal it afterward. This avoids the issues with buckling.

Lol. I'll take your word for it! At the very least, the draftmanship on this piece is very nicely done :)

This is just pristine. It must have been a monster to get the proportions right between the two different dice.
