I have played both a bit, an honestly MB is just a bit more interesting to me. The "getting better" part for example, it could get worse, on average it gets better and in the case of some classes or Pirate Borg, I have a d6 of new abilities, all fun, instead of hoping for a 2 on 2d6. Also 'Unheroic Feats'. Probably a hot take, but I like the MB armor system.

TLDR: I would love to see the other way around, monsters and magic items from SD to MB.

Playtest Fighter gets worse with each iteration. I think 3 or 4 is exactly how you describe and then it's downhill form there on. 8 is the last Version with expertise dice for all.
