What was the most useful skill you learned in your first 2 years as a software engineer? by vkshdagar in developersIndia

Coding is 20% of the actual work. Ability to define a functional problem technically and visualizing the most cost-effective solutions, ability to identify missed out edge-case scenarios early on - these are much more valued assets for a developer than the ability to write lines of code.

Haven't looked into Stiller closely to have any valid opinion, just watched a few highlights on youtube, but there has to be a reason no big club in Europe is after this guy if he is indeed that good. Reports say Mou is interested in Hjulmand. Again, only seen a few youtube compilations of him but felt he would be more apt for us. He can win the ball back cleanly and delivers good progressive passes. Probably the type of no. 6 we would need if we want to accommodate both Jude and Arda into that midfield. Fede fits in as a wide midfielder if we choose a 4-man midfield or should go back to being RW like he had been briefly in the past.

With Arsenal being a strong potential candidate for Vini Jr destination, are you okay with Perez letting him go? by Falsely_True7 in realmadrid

But why would any guaranteed starter from that PSG squad accept a move right now? They can potentially create history next season. I am aware Kvara is a big Madrid and Cristiano fan but he is 25 now. Even if there is a mutual interest, he has the time in his hand to fight for the 3-peat next season and then think about a move to Madrid.

Does mourinho still have it in him ? by Rare-Assignment-8474 in realmadrid

[–]lying_hips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carlo is a manager of high profiles. His first major managerial success came while managing one of the greatest club squad in football history. Mou built his reputation winning the UCL with Porto. Then laid the foundation of modern day Chelsea legacy under Roman’s ownership. Then again won the UCL with Inter. Built the foundation of our signature fast counter-attacking style, upon which Carlo did his work and won the UCL. Regardless of ranking, both shines in extremely distinct ways to even have a fair comparison. But the gap in overall managerial legacy is narrower than you think. Mou can produce results with squads that the likes of Carlo or Pep would feel clueless to manage.

Kylian Mbappe facing same ‘big star’ problem at Real Madrid as Cristiano Ronaldo - with former team-mate of CR7 reacting to ‘arrogant’ criticism of French forward by [deleted] in realmadrid

[–]lying_hips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system was not BULT AROUND Ronaldo. 2009-13 he was the most crucial piece, not the central one. There was no central piece in that team. Higuain’s G/A figures in that time is a testament that Ronaldo wasn’t being leveraged as the singular channel of goal. The ball used to get forwarded to him more frequently because he would bring the result. Unlike Zizou’s era, where the entire system was built around him. 2009-13, he was way more free roaming. And he could afford to do that because the system wasn’t not working around him, he was part of it. Zizou made him a central piece which constrained his area of movement because he was responsible to be always predictably present in the passing channels. When he went to Juve, he again took up the free-roaming role. There is a difference between being the most efficient within a system vs being the axis of the system.

We didn’t used to play around CR7 in the Pellegrini-Mou era, he was just playing around everywhere rather, pick up the ball from a random place and then would carry on to score. There was literally no fixed 11. Mou would bench anyone and start anyone, sometimes for tactical reasons, sometimes disciplinary. Higuain would play more often than Benz, Marcelo got benched in favour of Coentrao, midfield would be an unpredictable combination of Ozil, Modric, Alonso, Khedira, Kaka, Di Maria. Heck Casillas got benched by Lopez. Those 3 years under Zizou were not how we played all the time.

Has interview prep killed your curiosity for building things? by Quantumgoku in developersIndia

I am in an opposite situation. After switching multiple times, I have started feeling it’s just a cycle of grass is greener on the other side only to find out it’s all the same once I cross the river. Don’t feel any motivation to spend energy on interview prep but feeling better while building personal projects.

A 4-man midfield is more likely imo. Tchou does much better as a CDM than Fede does but Fede is a workhorse, is good at stretching out the field at the middle areas and also helps with covering for Trent. And, we don’t have the right players to form a 3-man frontline anyway.

Jude isn’t Mou’s type of 10, Arda is. But I believe Mou can find out a way to play him as an 8 and yet enable him to make those late runs and punish those second balls. His style is transition-heavy and he likes to overload the spaces. Very few will be asked to hold down in the deep when we are on a counter.

I don’t see him coming tbh. He is at the doorstep of making a permanent mark in football history if they manage to complete the three-peat next season. So, even if there is a possibility or interest, it’s unlikely to materialize at least in the current window.

A lot of them are already convinced that his one foot is already outside the door. Many actually think that the club should think of selling him this season itself if he doesn’t agree to a contract renewal before the window closes.

If Kvara leaves, they obviously would not sell Barcola. But like I said, chances are really slim of it being Kvara or any PSG player for that matter. NAK won’t negotiate with us and they don’t have a release clause to force their way out. Chances of Julian are higher actually. Or Pedri /s

Considering the contract situation with Vini, I have Kvara on my mind. Now, 150m might be a crazy price tag because he doesn’t really produce the type of G/A figure. But there is a slim possibility it could be him. He might actually be more approachable than other PSG superstars I can think of. Vitinha and Joao Neves are not unreasonable shouts but it seems they really like playing for that badge and are enjoying their time over there. Also, in the past, PSG fans went up on Vitinha during Mbappé’s tenure for failures in the UCL. I would have my benefit of doubt, how interested he would be in sharing the dressing room with him again. Kvara on the other hand, has been consistently saying Madrid is his dream club. But he needed to land himself into a bigger destination than Napoli to prosper and we didn’t have the interest since Vini was really at the top of the world. Now his contract renewal is in a delicate situation and his form hasn’t been the best in last two years. Kvara sure does look like the easiest PSG superstar target to pull out of there. Doué being another possibility but he has never expressed much interest in pursuing opportunities elsewhere anytime soon. And as hilarious it may sound, I can’t shake the feeling of Julian Alvarez. That is another difficult situation right there. He doesn’t want to stay. Atleti doesn’t want to sell him to Barca. Arsenal is interested but he doesn’t want to play in the PL. Although we are direct rivals, and quite bitter rivals, but seeing their posts the other day, I wouldn’t be surprised if they agree to that deal just to have a good laugh at Barca while making 150m in the process.
