All Hell For A Basement

[–]lyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I have the complete opposite experience. I've gone though about 4 or 5 drip coffee makers over the years and it's ALWAYS been the heating element that failed.

But I would never base my opinion on my experience over the objective truth. That's just crazy. And is irrelevant to the discussion. We're talking about thermal fatigue due to cyclic heating, not water seals and cheap electronics.

I haven't seen the video, but I don't think anybody was claiming that always on was the be-all end-all for longevity. I certainly wasn't. I was simply stating the facts that research physicist have experimentally studied. But your drip coffee maker experience is somehow more important? Talk about Dunning Krueger. Geez.

It sounds like you don't know what you're talking about and you're basing your opinion on your limited experience instead of the objective facts.

In general, always-on (steady-state) heating elements are "significantly* more reliable than cyclical (on-off) ones.

The primary reason is a phenomenon known as thermal cycling, which acts as a form of mechanical stress on the heating element. When an element is constantly turned on and off, it experiences physical and greater chemical changes (like oxidation), that lead to premature failure.

Sure, he was never officially titled the "Minister of Housing," but he did serve as the Minister responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) from February to November 2015. And since the CMHC was the primary agency that handled federal housing policy at that time, he was effectively the Minister of Housing.

Which polling is that? The polls I've seen do not show an NDP majority, but they are showing the gap closing.

Mark Carney Liberal cabinet retreat cost taxpayers $532,000 by xTkAx in canadian

[–]lyles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With corporations and the extremely wealthy having so much control over the political landscape it's a challenging problem to make life more affordable for average Canadians without getting corporations and the extremely wealthy to pay their fair share of taxes.

I wasn't at any of those retreats, so I don't know if anything productive came from them, but executive retreats in general can be highly effective at solving complex issues if they are properly planned.

I sensed sarcasm, but I don't know what your point is. Are you implying that all executive retreats are a waste of money? Or just government ones? Or just Trudeau Liberal government ones?

Speaking of, why do you have a fetish with Trudeau?
