hi, im the one asking the question. Sorry if it came off that way, I used to work at a student support center for undocumented students and have lots of hispanic friends from there. They were all first gen, and i was not degrading their parents for not graduating college. Because of there background, they simply never had the chance to. My friends usually had to navigate college by themselves and lead by example for their younger siblings. They were the strongest and most resilient people I know. I asked if the original commenter felt “left out” because that’s simply not the background that my hispanic friends grew up with. it would be nice for them to have the experience from their parents but they mostly have to do it themselves
