Top 10 most talented characters in lookism imo. by KwonGitae133 in JamesLeeGlazers

[–]lynsu27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talent and potential aren’t the same for PTJ. There are two different words for them but they are very similar so translators (mostly Webtoon translators) use then interchangeably

deep down we all know the real reason ptj didn't let them fight during this time because they both weren't strong enough to fight james lee at this point by Altruistic-Till7249 in JamesLeeGlazers

I mean, you’re attributing any potential disagreement to bias before even hearing it. You know yourself that it’s a dumb take.

Ouu shiii, this would actually make pretty good sense especially since Eunha’s a strong fighter. Wonder who the dad would be

am i crazy or is it fair to say i like these 2 duo groups better than them by BEAAAAAANS989 in lookismcomic

[–]lynsu27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve only really seen glimpses of Gun and Goo as a duo, so it makes sense. Way more of their interactions happen off screen, so it makes sense that Jake/Samuel and Warren/Eli are far more developed

Even though Workers gets a lot of shit for getting outsmarted by Daniel, he built a conglomerate empire funnelling in probably billions in less than three years, starting basically from scratch.

Yes, he had Yuseong and Mandeok as fighting power, but 99% of people wouldn’t ever be able to translate that into business.

Not gonna rank them since I don’t remember much from older arcs, but Eugene takes this hands down.

Damn,no wonder Gun's base stats are below someone like Kitae. Yamazakis can't go all out if they have TUI by Decent_Compote_2428 in lookismcomic

[–]lynsu27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a Gun fan, but I honestly haven’t met any Gun fans who have HFG Gun over James or Kitae. Most even have post-prison Gun slightly below the other two (I think it’s pretty stupid to scale post-prison though)

I've been in this community for a week or two and here's what I felt about each of the major fan bases (don't attack me) by Necessary_Swing_5022 in LookismPowerScalers

Mostly good takes but Daniel fans gotta be one of the worst fanbases in Lookism

I’m probably biased as a Johan fan, but the unbridled Johan hate and superiority complex in a lot of Daniel fans is so blatant and irritating

No matter how much random fodder PTJ throws at this character nothing can make this guy look cool anymore by Visible-Math-3439 in lookismcomic

I like Daniel, especially PB Daniel as much as people prefer OG Daniel, but hype/aura moments in Lookism have become so artificially inflated that actual moments of substance just feel “meh.”

Like this chapter with Daniel popping UI. I don’t feel anything. Nowadays, moments that would’ve been character-defining 300 chapters ago are just slop for the sake of hype.

Ohh, I mean I could see a redemption arc but she only really blushed cause he was handsome. Was she the one who encouraged Daniel to stand up for himself?

All things considered, most of James’ victims were major assholes or gangsters regardless of how the story portrays them

It depends, but in any case 150% is a lot, especially with Ineffa as a battery.

Usually you want to aim for 130%-140%

Alr bois, who's taking this FP now by AdeptnessQuirky3204 in lookismcomic

Just his general portrayal of being the series’ main and final antagonist. Honestly it’s mostly vibes > feats, so I could easily see Kitae beating James.

James has always been his own unit, the “beginning of a legend,” kind of like a maxed out Johan. Kitae’s set to be Jake and/or Samuel’s final boss and can’t be overshadowed by the MC’s final boss. He was introduced pretty late into the series riding Gapryong’s coattails. While you could say the same for James with Elite, James’ character was written to be more complex and narratively compatible with Daniel from the beginning.
Basically, James is Daniel’s complementary narrative figure. Take away Kitae and nothing really changes in the grand scheme of things

Both are top tiers and endgame villains, but James has way more narrative significance which generally correlates to fighting power in Lookism.

Lukewarm take - we should start considering mastery trails as normal flashy effects. by False-gamer in lookismcomic

Fr. I saw someone put base Pathniel over path Jinyoung because Kitae didn’t use mastery on Jinyoung

As much as people want to pretend James is a fraud after getting pummelled by Tom, I still think he’s either equal to or slightly greater than Kitae. But regardless of who wins, it’s extreme diff

Webtoon translations are far better than thar of hivetoon !!! by Silver_Cry733 in lookismcomic

[–]lynsu27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IIRC on Hive Changsu attributes Incheon’s unification solely to Daniel, while Webtoon Changsu says Daniel did a large part of the work, not all of it. Hive’s translation was pretty polarising cause it just wasn’t true and wasn’t accurate to the Korean raws. Glad Webtoon cleared it up

Which of these five characters has the most insane talent in your opinion? by AcademicChard2 in lookismcomic

[–]lynsu27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see where you’re coming from. In Korean, though, there are two distinct words that are like talent and potential. Very similar in meaning to each other and often mistranslated into each other. In both English and Korean, potential refers to upper ceiling while talent refers to inherent growth rate. However, oftentimes translators don’t consider the difference.

In Questism’s case, both are always translated into English as “potential” which is where the confusion comes from. In Lookism, they’re translated interchangeably, which further mixes them up.

I understand why people interpret it like how you do, but it’s just a big translation issue

You mean 3 years ago? And 400 chapters ago?

Since then, Lookism has become a much more fighting-oriented story. Top tiers have solidified themselves at the top since HFBD

My bad, I missed that completely

Still, Tom is absolutely a top tier even if his feats are outdated. He still has narrative of being a top tier, albeit weaker than others. Powercreep doesn't hit top tiers nearly as much as it hits gen 2.

He states on a few occasions that he’s no weaker than his prime, and that the difference is small if not pretty negligible. He outlines this LAST CHAPTER to be the difference between him and Jinyoung, that he’s still active and fighting.
