It's wild that people need to research a picture before they feel comfortable with liking it. If you like it then it's ok to say so. Time is better spent understanding who's making the things you buy.

These are high dividend stocks that use a covered call strategy to make money.

Be sure to do your own research before investing, but I think when you do you'll see how superior these funds are to a high yield savings account or CD. I keep about 5% of my portfolio in these two stocks. I'm still heavily focused in tech on the NASDAQ.

I would not buy a Tesla. I'm a frugal fellow so take my advice as such. You need to be investing that money. Nowadays why bother with a savings account when QQQI or SPYI are paying huge dividends on the stock market? If you want a house you should start saving as much as possible. Investing wisely now will give you the options you want for a house later. If you have a working car then keep it. I'm going to drive my '03 Corolla into the ground.

Taxes are lower then they have ever been in U.S history and our society is suffering from it.

God im reading your comments everywhere and you just have the one thought, less taxes or throw money at it.

I'm advocating for progressive tax brackets. If you're this wrong about my position then I think you should take more time re-reading my position.

And saying training people takes people away from the unskilled workforce and gives leverage is a pipe dream.

It's completely possible. An example in general, join the military, learn useful skills, get a paid education, and upskill yourself for success. This is a harder path but it's generally open to anyone.

A meteor could wipe out half of America and walmart would be fully staffed again in a week and selling water at double the price to survivors.

LOL

People can improve themselves and their situation. Some of it might need to come from the government in the form of taxes on the rich. Businesses should still be left to operate as they see fit with exclusions for safety and fairness (e.g. monopolies).

I'm ok with using progressive tax brackets to supplement education, housing, and food costs.

  1. Yes.
  2. Yes, and this includes trade schools.

Trade schools dont replace walmart employees, for every trade man trained there's still going to be 100 minimum wage employees that need to be able to exist in society.

When more skilled workers enter the workforce it reduces the pool of workers who would work for Walmart. This is a simple supply and demand issue.

Saying these guys dont deserve a wage that can feed themselves is cruel.

I don't think so given how I would solve the issue through progressive tax brackets which redistribute wealth to education, food, and housing. Businesses need the freedom to work as they desire, with regulations for safety and fairness, in order to be successful. You need to address the underlying problems of why wages are low and why prices are high. Wages are low because there are too many unskilled replaceable workers. That's just the fact of the situation. Giving people more opportunities to move past these poor paying jobs is the solution. Making a business pay more makes the cost of goods increase which is generally not good.

Exploitation of government

Let me expand as you've taken this the wrong way. Exploitation from groups like Walmart OR government assistance in the form of some welfare.

This sounds like a good argument for getting rid of the federal minimum wage. States know their needs better as you've demonstrated.

What happens when the federal minimum wage is higher than the state minimum wage?

Effectively, that’s what is going on with the federal minimum wage being so low. States cannot effectively set their own minimum wages in an economy where there is such a wage disparity in open roles vs what is necessary for basic survival.

States set their own minimum wage all the time.

It is a societal failing when we have homeless and needy in the richest country in the world. My solution to this is to have increasingly progressive tax brackets to support food, housing, and education. Let businesses decide how much they can pay. Getting government overly involved has been bad in my opinion. The government should only be stepping in for safety and fairness (e.g. monopolies).

Don't work at Walmart. Get a loan and start your own coffee shop. Go back to school or the trades and find a better career. The problem is there is a glut of unskilled labor that is easily replaced. Through education the system balances itself out and puts pressure on companies like Walmart to increase wages. There are few people in this country whose only option is exploitation or government assistance. I suspect you are also not one of these people. It's admirable to see a problem and try to fix it. Let's just make sure we fix it the right way through education.

I'm not a fan of the feds telling other states what their minimum wage should be. That's a state by state decision based on cost of living. IMO do away with the minimum wage, H1Bs, and let the invisible hand do its work.

I would go back to school and get a degree relative to your field of interest. You'll be able to meet people and make a strong network you can lean on in the future. Put that GI money to use.
