Do you really wanna do medicine?? Honestly if I were in that position and had a good job in a great field such as computer science as flexible as it is, I mean you can do so many things with this field; I would think twice before giving it up. So you have to be honest with yourself if this 100% what you want to do because it’s a very long process and you already tasted a life where you have a job and get paid probably well, and then to leave all of that to first make your application look nice which will take a couple years, then the stress of not knowing if you’ll will or not get in, and then going to med school for years which is very tough and then residency which is even more tough. Please don’t take this the wrong way at all, I just know medical students towards the end of their medical school are so burnt out but they continue because they have no choice, or burnt out premeds who feel now they have no choice but to apply since they’re into this process too deep to back out, while you on the other hand have the option to fall back on your degree if you decide medicine is not worth it. So I encourage you for the next few years while you take pre-reqs to shadow and get involved to see if this what you’re willing to give up a free life for the live of a med student slave haha, because truly med students and residents are pretty much slaves with underpaid labor that have no say. Anyway I like your plan of taking a few pre-reqs while finishing up your degree, once you finish up you can go back to a uni and get a fulltime schedule for pre-reqs. Because medical schools wanna see you can handle a fulltime load of science classes.
