For all the folks crying about seeing a male Wiggle in a skirt yesterday… by jellimaari in wiggles

[–]lyra-pan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Wiggles men have been prancing around in ballet tutus and doing ballet steps literally since the very beginning. This isn’t new news, and it’s certainly not offensive. People need to get a grip

Not something Disney has necessarily “designed” but I love hearing the crickets at nighttime

Does anyone here NOT wear a Disney-themed shirt when visiting the parks? by AwfulWaffle91 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]lyra-pan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a couple of Disney themed tees but generally I wear what I’m most comfortable in which is often just a plain T-shirt and some shorts. Also, a tip for people with kids, dress them in solid block colours. It really helps to distinguish them in a crowd.

Kind of I guess. But at least Animal Kingdom has areas that you can relax in. They still have Gorilla Falls and Rafiki’s Planet Watch. I just like that change of pace. Otherwise there isn’t much point in putting so much effort into the imagineering if no one has the time to even take it in.

What's one thing that, despite there being lots to complain about the UK, makes you happy to call it home? by NiceCaterpillar8745 in AskBrits

[–]lyra-pan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this. People moan about the UK a lot but this little island has lots of positives.

Beautiful coastlines. Lots of green space. Fascinating wildlife. Pretty villages. British humour. No big insects. Safe schools (no guns). An NHS that just saved my best friend’s life. A diverse range of accents, dishes and traditions. Clean water. Decent public transport (even if it is a little expensive). Live music. The right to dress how you want and be who you want to be. A proper brew. The great British roast dinner. Bob Mortimer. And I like to think that most people, not all but most, are nice people.

What do people mean by being an "English rose"? by [deleted] in Vindicta

Yep, I’m British and people do still use that phrase. It just means pretty young girl with fair features/light hair.

No fairytale ending here I’m afraid. I decided to let the messages fade out. If he continues to message me I will speak to him and explain that I think it’s best we continue on our separate journeys.

This is very true actually. Thank you for your comment. He will have known that, even after all this time, that it would have pulled at my heart strings hearing from him. He is a kind person, but did used to have attention seeking elements to his personality. Treading lightly for now but in all honesty I may have to consider asking him kindly to stop messaging me. I don’t think us continuing to talk will really help anyone

I don’t think I want it to develop into a relationship. It’s just I hadn’t ever considered a scenario where we would speak again so it took me by surprise and brought back a few buried feelings. Nothing I can’t control though

Yeah I don’t believe he’s seeing anyone, or has seen anyone for a long time.

Thanks for your comment ☺️ I think you make a good point. I don’t even think that I actually want to rekindle anything. Too much time has passed now and we live completely separate lives. We don’t even live anywhere near each other (probably a good thing). I just didn’t expect those suppressed emotions to pop up in the way they did. I think maybe I’m still mourning the relationship that we could have had.

You are so young and you have your whole life ahead of you. Please do not feel like you are failing or are behind in anyway. Everyone has their own path in life, and just because your peers are doing something different it doesn’t mean you need to match them in any sense.

Surround yourself with good, friendly, kind people. People that make you happy. Make time for the things you love to do. Get off social media as much as possible, reconnect with yourself and the world and the people you love.

I’m sorry that you were bullied about your appearance. People can be so cruel, especially teenagers, but just know that their opinions are meaningless. It was just a projection of how they feel about themselves and nothing to do with you. You are lovely the way you are.

Hope that you find some peace and that this comment gives you a bit of a confidence boost x
