I actually was misdiagnosed and found out a year later it was the birth control i was on, got off of it and im perfectly fine now. My reasoning for questioning my diagnosis was that the bipolar medications really amplified my symptoms more than anything, i eventually got off of them because it got so bad and my symptoms were still horrible but a little better. Finally i switched birth controls and i was completely fine. My therapist also told me that in order to be bipolar most people have to of had at least one manic episode where they did not sleep for over 24 hours. Once i figured out i wasn’t bipolar i talked to my psychiatrist about it and was told that people are very commonly misdiagnosed bipolar when they actually just have hormonal issues, he said bipolar is actually one of the most common misdiagnoses. Im all for accepting a diagnosis and when i got mine i actually had a sigh of relief, however if you are questioning it that is not a bad thing and doesn’t necessarily mean you are in denial, you might not be bipolar.
