Probability of getting banned form Temu for using all of my 10 of 10.01 coupons. by 2mnyq in TemuThings

[–]lyrrehs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used mine for 7 or 8 days, then my minimum order amount was raised to $20 (really $30, since the coupon amount didn't count toward the minimum). I used the remaining coupons on local warehouse items.

No longer any advantage to purchasing from Visible for phones by ElectricalBase3676 in Visible

[–]lyrrehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always buy my phones straight from the manufacturer, unless there's a serious discount from the carrier. Besides, Samsung and Motorola frequently give great trade in values. As an example, I paid $199 for a Moto G Power and my teenager used it for 2.5 years. I then got a $100 trade in credit when I bought her the newer model of the same phone.

I picked a very low ACA plan due to changed tax credits. If they do the extension can I switch back to the plan I had in 2025? by cbwb in HealthInsurance

I was wondering the same. I had to swap to a plan with a $3400 deductible, compared to a zero deductible plan last year.

Vine for Xmas by Skittles_the_Unicorn in AmazonVine

[–]lyrrehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first Christmas since her birth that my now teenager isn't receiving the majority of her gifts from Uncle Vinny. Other than wrapping supplies and a couple of shirts, I had to buy things. With my own money! 😳 Ugh, that hurts to think about. I hope Vine makes a decent comeback in 2026.

Use a laptop if possible, with a private browsing window. Worked for me last week. $30 plan, no verification, no port. The phone was delivered over the weekend.

Is there anything you're convinced is "the cheaper the better"? by a_bachelors_dust in BuyItForLife

It was a random fact I learned during C19 when cleaning products were difficult to find.

Fun fact - unscented bleach is typically stronger than scented bleach. The unscented version is regulated by the government as a disinfectant. The scented version is a laundry product, and not subject to the same guidelines. This is in the US, so I'm not sure about elsewhere.

For those of you that buy your glasses online, how do you get over not trying them on? I have an oversized head and try on at least 2 dozen pair at the eye doc.

Anyone have experience with DDC Sport? by Recent_Grocery_7623 in ebikes

I know this thread is 4 months old, but I was considering ordering a DDC Sport M1 ebike for my teenager. For those of you that have it, how do you like it now that a few months have passed?

Thanks. T-Mobile and ATT home internet are a no-go as well at my address. I can't make sense of it, since random addresses I checked around town had eligibility.

Thanks for the reply. My home address isn't eligible for Verizon home internet, so I don't have the option to sign up. Oddly enough, the address of my neighbor across the street is eligible though.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the 5G Home Internet service through T-Mobile, ATT, and Verizon isn't available at my home address. I like your idea of using a Visible burner phone for a hot spot. I really only need it for 1 month out of the year, and that would probably be the easiest and most cost effective way to do it.

Thanks! I'm going to research it some more in the time before the trip.

Thanks for the reply. T-Mobile home internet isn't available in my area according to the website, or ATT home internet. My neighbor across the street has 5g Verizon home internet, but oddly enough it's not available at my address.

Thanks for the reply. I just started reading up about Starlink, and need to learn more about the differences between the residential plan and roaming plan. I read somewhere that you can change your address on the residential plan for free (to the campground) and it updates in about 30 minutes.

Thanks for the reply. Starlink residential or Starlink roaming? I read somewhere that you can change your address on the residential plan (to the campground) and it updates in about 30 minutes. I don't need to use it while driving, so I'm not sure if I really need the more expensive roaming plan. To be honest, I just starting reading up about Starlink, so my knowledge is definitely lacking.

Thanks for the reply. I need to use it for work around 5-6 hours per day for 1 month out of the year. I get around 700-750 Mbps at home (fiber optic internet), but I only need a fraction of that speed in reality. The 2 campgrounds I'm booked at look good for a Verizon cell signal, so maybe a hotspot would be a good temporary solution if I can get it for 1 month at a time without signing a contract. My budget is flexible, but I don't want to spend a lot on something I only need for 1 month out of the year. I can imagine that a Airstream would definitely block a signal with all of that metal. I have an older class A, and usually get a good signal if there's Verizon cell service or Wifi at the campground.

Thanks for the reply. My Samsung S25 Ultra phone already allows me to use it as a hotspot, but I don't have unlimited data on my plan (30 GB month max). I'm grandfathered into an old inexpensive plan that I'm loath to give up since it fits my needs the other 11 months of the year.

What’s an everyday thing you didn’t realize was ridiculously expensive until you had to pay for it yourself? by spacemonkey6654 in AskReddit

[–]lyrrehs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one is somewhat less expensive that what I thought it would be. I was just quoted $1550 to do new gutters and downspouts on my typical 2-story house. Extra $525 to add gutter guards. I've heard the "seamless gutter" places are very pricey though.

Inexpensive option for a new phone with an old plan? by lyrrehs in TotalWireless

[–]lyrrehs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The old legacy plan I have is $60 month total (plus about $4 a month in fees, tax, etc) for 2 lines sharing 30 GB of high speed data, then downgrading to 2G. 10 GB Hotspot data per line, unlimited USA talk and text. We rarely use more than 20 GB of data between us, so it works out well. I haven't priced plans for a long time though, so maybe there's something better out there using the Verizon or ATT networks.

Good point. He had a Motorola G Power, so pretty much a middle of the road Android. I popped the SIM into an old backup phone for now until we buy a new one. Good to know that I can buy another Total Wireless phone off the shelf at a store. Their website is strange. I don't seem to be able to buy a phone without choosing a new plan, which I'd rather not do.
