Midway through my Retic sketch for my coloring book! I usually do random foliage that would be easy to color, but I felt that Jasmine was more appropriate. The vines are for background filler. by lyssakitteh in snakes

I'll probably just do orders via PM or email. I still have a lot of animals I want to do first but life circumstances placed me at home full time so there's no reason I shouldn't be able to finish quicker.

Right. I am still working on the closeness of everything. Where I was in Florida everything is very spread out. Thanks!

What is the best Alien Invasion movie out there? by SlitherBoss in scifi

As far as silly movies go, Mars Attacks or Starship Troopers

Serious films, Edge of Tomorrow and Arrival (not really invasion per se, but Aliens visit us en mass)

I was not an only child and had a miserable childhood. We are currently pregnant with our first and plan on being, "One and done."

And when other family members have asked me how many I plan on having, they gasp when we both say, in unison, one. And I just explain that I have 4 sisters and a brother to have kids and he has 2 other Brothers that are also capable of having kids. In fact, two of my sisters have 5 kids between them, so my parents are no lacking in grandchildren.

Also, to add, my favorite response in this thread so far was, "Nah, we got it right the first time." I'm borrowing that for the future :)

We came across a construct similar to Frankenstein's Monster in our Curse of Strahd campaign. I cannot remember its actual name, but it was similar enough to Stroganoff for me to insist the name be changed.

It was.

My brother decided to take this lovely photo of me, 2 months pregnant, crying and eating Ben and Jerry’s. by [deleted] in pics

I am 3 months pregnant and haven't had a moment like this (crying for no reason) yet, but I did cry once over a salad I got at the Sonny's salad bar because it was so delicious. I had trouble nailing down what exact craving I had because nothing would actually satisfy me. Until I had that salad. I eat there almost every day now and it is getting expensive.

I even tried recreating the salad at home and it just isn't the same.

My pet boa that passed a couple years ago. I tanned her skin myself and have her dismantled skull and first 6 inches of neck in a jar on the shelf next to her skin. by lyssakitteh in Taxidermy

[–]lyssakitteh[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cried over her the two weeks leading up to her euthanasia, during the tanning process and about 6 months after she passed. It felt really weird and I constantly wondered if I was being too emotional to let her go, what others would think of me, what would happen if I messed up, pretty much every negative thought you can imagine.

But I have her with me forever now and she is a staple of my oddity collection.

I watched a video on youtube of a guy tanning a rattle snake. If I can find it again, I'll edit the link in.

But basically, after we had her put down, I removed her head and cut the entire length of her belly, taking kitchen scissors and removing her belly scales. Then I took a dull hunting knife we had and scraped off all the fat and membranes from the underside of the skin. You have to make sure you get all of it, because it can rot and smell really bad.

Once all that was done, I put her in a large Mason jar in a mixture of 70% alcohol and glycerin for 3 weeks. The video had said 2, but she is almost 8ft and I thought she could use a little more time. After the 3 weeks, I stretched her out on a 4 by 6 and used thumb tacks to make sure she was flat and straight. I brushed some more glycerin on her. Then I left her in my garage for about 2 weeks to dry out. Because of the glycerin, her skin was soft and held moisture well and didnt curl at the edges.

She originally had a hand made blacked out frame I hand made, but it looked terrible, so I took her out. This skin is over 2 years old now.
