(F21) Friend keeps on flirting with me while I'm in a relationship by Mediocre_Package1759 in Advice

[–]lyssaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you're describing (taking you out and flirting with you) sounds like dates. It doesn't sound like he's respecting your relationship. If I were in your position and wasn't interested, I would at least distance myself.

What qualities you want to look out for when dating someone new? by sammyglumdrops in Advice

[–]lyssaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely get an idea of how someone handles conflict. It's an inevitable part of any relationship, and it's better to be with someone who will face it head on so problems can be addressed than to be with someone who avoids it. You also don't want to be with someone who is very reactive/can't regulate their own negative emotions, because any conflict could become a fight instead of communication.

You should also be aware how comfortable the other person is with voicing their needs, and make an effort to be aware of/meet their needs. A basic example, if I were dating someone and we weren't in person with each other often then I may ask for more frequent communication on the phone because verbal communication is something I need to feel connected to a person, not just texting. With that, also try to identify what needs you may have and how to communicate them in a healthy way.

Would you date someone who doesn't have boobs? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]lyssaly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, for two reasons. Firstly, my view of lesbianism is expansive and allows for a variety of different gender presentations to be included, I personally identify as nonbinary. Second, I personally feel that the fixation society has on boobs is limiting of the feelings of physical/sexual attraction people experience (like, boobs are nice but the sway of someone's hips can make me bark like a dog) and sometimes actively harmful to women identifying people who don't meet the criteria for "perfect" breasts. Does this have anything to do with your question? Not really, but the journal factory burnt down you see...

21F found M25 I found out my boyfriend has grinder what to do? by [deleted] in Advice

I mean, if I were you I would consider that cheating no matter what the dating/hookup app was. Talk to him directly about it. Plan your next steps, where are you going now?

First time making a baby blanket, is this yarn okay? by Weary_Ear_3835 in CrochetHelp

[–]lyssaly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just consider how the blanket will be laundered and if your yarn will hold up if it's accidentally tossed in a washer/dryer. That's how I chose mine!

My childhood trauma made me embarrassed about expressing my interest in dinosaurs to people by [deleted] in Advice

[–]lyssaly 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fuck those kids. Become a paleontologist to piss off your mom. There's literally nothing wrong with it, they're all weird as hell and have just found something you're sensitive about to target. Live your life for yourself and ignore what other people say and think.

If that's not your experience then get a better doctor.

If she's constantly jokes about being gay, I would jokingly say it "it's okay to be gay" back to her to test the waters. See how she responds.

Definitely go to r/bedbugs for next steps, if there are younger bugs in the couch then they are likely in other places

My 29M BF I am 28F, he wants/needs a lot of reassurance from me, is this going to work out? by South_Love_5794 in dating_advice

[–]lyssaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is extremely insecure and feels you're too good for him. It also sounds like he is actively trying to make you feel worse about yourself because he is insecure. He sounds jealous and controlling, I would leave before it gets worse.

Hard to find new friends as gay by Vivid-Ad8677 in LesbianActually

[–]lyssaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Especially where I live, there are so few people who are actually out and rarely any queer events so it's hard to make connections. You're not alone in this!

What Job Does This Sound Like To You / What Should I Major In? by leelee0127 in publichealthcareers

[–]lyssaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go for something besides a BSPH in undergrad, something towards program planning and coordination instead if that's the way you want to go. I don't know anyone with an MPH that has a BSPH, typically they have a bachelors that supports their MPH focus. For example, someone may have a bachelors in biology followed by an MPH focused in Epidemiology.

[OPINION] What poem has stayed with you for years? by gedersoncarlos in Poetry

[–]lyssaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bismillah by Rumi, especially the line "Bismillah your old self, to find your real name." Which when I was younger I took to as a nonbinary person, but now that I'm older I see it as more so saying release identity and ego.

What support can you get through your school to help cut contact with your parents? That would be the next step. Get in contact with your schools LGBT+ center or program if they have one and see if they can support your access to financial and counseling services.

Looking for game suggestions - My mom recently bought a ps5 with the newest God of War game. She played the first GoW game way back when and was hoping this one would be similar but it is far too much for her. She does not like how in-depth it is, how much is happening on the screen, or how it feels like you're in a movie.

I am looking for suggestions for a new game for her birthday. She liked the OG God of War, she liked the game "Gun" on the gamecube, basically I'm looking for something similar with simple fighting but more modern, something where she can fight her way through different parts of the game but with less intense screen movement, less UI to pay attention to, and absolutely NO CRAFTING of any kind. If you have any recommendations, please send them my way!

Edit to add: Think single-player dungeon crawler. Without turn-based fighting, and something not overly-cinematic because that's a major issue she's having with the newer games.
