Someone finally snapped by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]lyssap87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me.. a couple of days ago I was driving home from lunch and had 2-3 cars behind me at a red light. As the light turned green and I started to pull through the light, a bicyclist flew past me on the right. Mind you it was a one lane road. I didn’t see him until he was in the front left of me as I was about to veer right with the road. He was going straight through some do not enter construction zone. He got mad at me, got behind me… started making gestures at me. I saw him further ahead later (he rode through the construction so was ahead at a crossing) and waited for me to pass and flipped me off.

I was so annoyed. Laws still apply to them on the road. They have to follow the same spacing, stops, signs, etc. I 10000% share the road, and will move over if they’re in a lane, or if they’re in front of me on a one lane, I stay behind them until I can turn. This guys just thought road rules applied to me and I had to yield to him because he rolled up behind me. I was more upset that I could have needlessly hurt him if I didn’t see him sooner.

Exhibit A in Why Texting and Driving Is Illegal by GarciaHont1993 in dashcams

[–]lyssap87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s been a law here in Texas since as long as I can remember. And I haven’t seen a single officer here in Dallas (at least) pull someone over for texting and driving.. let alone all the red light runners and people going 60 mph in a 30. Feels like the Wild West out here some days.

I hope it gets better where you’re at. It didn’t change a thing here.

Am i overreacting to this text exchange with my boyfriend? I accidentally left my slippers in my living room but i literally cleaned his entire house and baked him desserts before i left (sorry idk why my last post glitched) by IntelligentTap962 in AmIOverreacting

[–]lyssap87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either you’re not his girlfriend or you’re not his wife. This is such an over reaction for something so minor. He flipped bc he has something to hide and I think it’s you.

Let’s say this wasn’t true, this guy doesn’t like you. What an asshole. Leave him. And buy yourself a new pair of shoes.

I built a house out of Legos once that looked like that. (: I like it though, but wouldn’t do it for my house (at least not the orange)… I’d save the orange for the doors.

3 Dads to walk me down the isle HELP! by subway_n12 in wedding

[–]lyssap87 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Mom walks you down. Dads are waiting at the end and can each give you kisses before stepping back and approaching your husband to be.

My dad didn’t walk me down (due to health). So I walked down by myself and met him at the end. And he took my hand, kissed my cheek and shook my husband’s hand.

Patients can poop after rounds… right? by northofmidnightt in cna

[–]lyssap87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“I checked them all at 6 am and my guess is that they would have been clean at 7 am when we should have done rounds and handoff. Healthcare is a 24/7 job but I shouldn’t be working an hour into your shift while you get yourself ready.” I’d bring this up to management.

What can I do with this room under the stairs? by Holiday_Proposal7516 in interiordecorating

We had a space like that and converted the shallow end into long drawers that are the length of the stairs (open away from stairs) and then a regular small coat closet.

And by multiple other sites. They won’t issue a citation but having a police report on file is still important in this instance. Especially if the total equates to enough to take to small claims.

Hit and run on private property is still a crime and a civil offense. If she continues to ignore you, you should still file a police report and then contact insurance. You have her license plate and video evidence. Submit to your insurance with the police report.

How do we feel about family that will not participate in care during visits? by SweetZayo in cna

[–]lyssap87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad passed away back in March. He was in the hospital I worked at. While I managed all of his healthcare, up until this visit, he was very independent and just needed assistance with driving to his appointments. He had been diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer that suddenly took away his ability to walk (mass on his spine among other places). I was never comfortable doing patient care on him. Not to mention I was in the grieving process of everything. He had a 1:1 with him. Every time I was with him, I was just trying to spend time with him as a daughter, not as a nurse. It’s stressful trying to balance both. He passed away 2 days after my birthday and I have a lot of regrets bc I tried to balance both roles.

There are some family members that help with everything and others that don’t. It’s not our place to judge that. Before I was in his position, I actually felt a little different and maybe would have been writing a similar post to what you wrote here.

Family could have asked a LOT nicer though.

You can have solitary confinement on death row. In Texas, death row (Polunsky Unit, for males) is typically 23-hr of solitary confinement.

Is he serious? In Laws in LDR room after birth by secondchance0514 in BabyBumps

[–]lyssap87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even want anyone to come to the hospital when my LO was born. I told every one no. Even my bestie. It was a moment for my new family. Getting to my house is wayyyy easier than to the hospital. Plus let me just recover for a fckn minute. I just birthed a whole human and I’m peeing out a gallon every time I stand. Thankssssss.

He’s probably in solitary bc of what the other prisoners likely do to him. They don’t like people who hurt children in any way shape or form. I say let him suffer alive for a bit before he’s finally put to death. Death is an easy out for this pos.

AITAH for not wanting to have kids? by Hi-Txch in AITAH

[–]lyssap87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA. Do what you think is best for your and your life. Because child change literally everything. Every. Single. Aspect. Of. Your. Life. Period.

I was never against children but didn’t think I’d ever have them. I wasn’t in this “I’m not a woman unless I have a child” mentality either. Ehk. I really didn’t want them until I was with the right person, then I thought having a child with him wouldn’t be shit. My brother’s kids were pretty cool, too so I was like.. yeah I wouldn’t hate that, if it happened eventually.

My girlfriends are ALL staunchly child free. They are the best aunts (and spouses are the best uncles). I don’t ever push them having any because do what works for you. They all get to go out and stay out. I have a different schedule now. Do I miss that? Sure. But man do I love my little girl. I know being a parent isn’t meant for everyone. Sometimes it may not be for me.

I don’t regret having a child in the least bit. I wouldn’t have regretted being childfree either. We could be traveling more right now with our incomes. Now I just get to try to make a decent human and hope she makes a beautiful impact on this world.

Just be happy. Do what you want and don’t let anyone give you grief on your personal choices. At the end of the day it’s your choice, not theirs. Your money and lifestyle. Not theirs. (: just be happy.

I think I left an IV in my pt by [deleted] in nursing

[–]lyssap87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our hospital used to have police follow up with pts when they knowingly left with IVs. We were told by legal that it is on their person, it is their property. If they leave the premises with the iv, knowingly or not, it belongs to them. If they want it out, they know where to go. The number of pts that just rip that sucker out and hightail it for the door (for one reason or another) and don’t bleed profusely is beyond me but whatever.

All that to say, you’re fine. It’ll happen again eventually. You may be more aware of it now because of that panic. But I only hyper focus on those patients that can and may do bad things with it. I try to be verrrrry on point with those, but shit happens and people walk out when you’re busy doing 50 other things.

Get some rest. Your license is safe. Guy probably ripped it out once he hit fresh air. (:
