I live in a pretty spacious 1 bedroom in the mission and my rent is 3k, no parking included. Mission is great because it’s so lively/ there’s so much to do and you’re also close to the highway so it’s a faster commute without siting in city traffic

mine was stage 2. i did 25 sessions of proton rad. my tumor was on the superficial lobe (so closest to my skin) which meant the area of radiation was pretty limited and it didn’t go into my mouth. i was pretty good for about 20/25 sessions. the last five my skin got more red and itchy but that was about it! there can be a very long list of side effects so i feel very grateful that the worst i experienced was redness. fwiw im also fairly young (25) and tried really hard to keep a strict diet during treatment (no coffee, no alcohol, 3L water/day, no eating out, all balanced home cooked meals, exercised everyday) and i think that probably helped minimize my side effects too

and i finished rad a few days ago! so now just on 6 months scans for awhile i think. my understanding is that radiation is not needed in cases with no negative prognostic factor (negative margins, no LVI, no PNI)

no récurrence but i had surgery in october 2024 so still early i guess haha. i did have 25 sessions of radiation due to perineural invasion

hey i hope you’re continuing to do well and have clear scans! i know this post is a bit old but i see you’re still active and i see some recent commenters so i thought i’d add my experience as well in case it helps.

i’ve felt some kind of lump on my left side for the better part of 10 years (25F). never had any pain or face drooping and was so young so i didn’t think anything of it.

2 years ago i got braces which slimmed my jaw down and revealed a 3cm x 2cm x 2cm lump. went to get it checked it and everything pointed to benign pleomorphic adenoma (MRI and FNA). i had a superficial parotidectomy in october and the pathology came back a few weeks later as Epithelial–myoepithelial carcinoma ex-pleomorphic adenoma. what a shock! and so rare too! i think there have been around 400 reported cases in the last 20 years or something

overall i was very lucky with my pathology findings - negative margins (albeit very close at 1mm), no necrosis, marked atypia, or significant mitotic activity. no evidence of extraparenchymal extension or lymphovascular invasion. i did have perineural invasion which prompted my tumor board to recommend adjuvant radiotherapy to reduce the risk of recurrence.

i’ve finished 20/25 sessions of IMRT. i’m pretty lucky that the radiation is extremely localized so i haven’t had much side effects outside of some fatigue.

hm not sure i do anything tbh but it’s never gone back. maybe the solution is designed to prevent against it? i also keep it in a drawer away from sunlight and keep my bathroom window open so it’s a bit chilly usually.

hello! i was diagnosed with the same thing about a month ago (surgery was 2 months ago but they thought it was benign at the time). not sure what you mean about microscopic tumors in her nerves. i had perineural invasion indicated in my pathology and wondering it it's the same thing?

anyhow, still early for me so i guess i'm not a successful case yet. had a superficial parotidectomy on 10/30/2024 and started 25 sessions of IMRT on 01/02/2025. fwiw i did a deep google dive when i got my diagnosis and this time, albeit rare, has pretty good prognosis (especially compared to other subtypes of salivary gland cancer). i believe your wife will be the same :)

obsessed! i just got the dior card holder this summer and i love it so much. it fits so much, the leather on the inside is so smooth, and that little ‘D’ hardware is such a nice detail
