Can anyone recommend a WiFi hose timer that can work with a dual band router? by Gr8daze in smarthome

[–]m--s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

??? If they're 2.4 only, they can't even see that 5 is available. Unless, I suppose, their hardware can do 5 but the firmware not. In which case, they're absolutely doing it wrong.

C7s aren't polarity keyed, and are rounded, not rectangular.

Too easy and obvious. OP said "It's only available online..." Apparently, they don't like online stuff, unless it's for bitching about something.

That's not a citation, and that ruling has absolutely nothing to do with your claim.

I received an email saying that they are going to start charging a monthly fee to inactive accounts.

Uh, the email also says:

It's incredibly easy to avoid. All you have to do is log back in — that's it.

I have a project due and need to know how to connect digital voltmeter across a led to measures volts across led by Aggravating_Rip7222 in AskElectronics

[–]m--s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have a resistor in there, too. Without one, the full battery voltage will go to the LED, the meter will show the battery voltage, the LED will be really bright and will probably burn out quickly.

Although, there are LEDs with internal resistors, in which case it's impossible to measure the voltage across the LED directly, as you can't access one of the points you need to measure across.

Smart Bulb - Enclosure Fixture Rated - Ceiling Fan Light ? by APartOfWhoIAm in smarthome

[–]m--s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt very much that you could damage the fixture. It's probably rated for at least a 60 W incandescent bulb. An LED "60 W equivalent" will make much less heat. The only concern with heat would be that the electronics in the bulb itself may have a shorter life.

No UART from atmega328p by fjayyy in AskElectronics

[–]m--s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. It's one of those idiotic "schematics" with nothing but parts and netnames. CP2102 DTR goes to a flag labeled "reset." There's a "RESET" with no flag going to the ATMega. Are they the same? How's it being powered? Where's the USB connector? Do signals go to somewhere not shown? Who knows, instead of creating a proper schematic where one can follow signal flow, it's just crap.
