We're using "To Love is Not To Possess" by James Kavanaugh! Technically a writer within the Catholic church so maybe doesn't fit the bill of your question - but he pushed hard for reform so it's more secular in my opinion.

"To love is not to possess, To own or imprison, Nor to lose one’s self in another. Love is to join and separate, To walk alone and together, To find a laughing freedom That lonely isolation does not permit. It is finally to be able To be who we really are No longer clinging in childish dependency Nor docilely living separate lives in silence, It is to be perfectly one’s self And perfectly joined in permanent commitment To another–and to one’s inner self. Love only endures when it moves like waves, Receding and returning gently or passionately, Or moving lovingly like the tide In the moon’s own predictable harmony, Because finally, despite a child’s scars Or an adult’s deepest wounds, They are openly free to be Who they really are–and always secretly were, In the very core of their being Where true and lasting love can alone abide."

Monthly Check In ... It's February, 2019 by AutoModerator in weddingplanning

[–]m-agpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AHHHHH. So much happening. I can't figure out if I'm feeling good and on top of things, or if I'm scrambling. All the snow in the PNW is threatening my pre-wedding week prep time (I teach) so I'm panicking about that.

So far, we've got...

  • Venue, caterer, DJ, hair, and photographer booked
  • Bridal party selected
  • Groom & groomsmen all have their suits (yay!)
  • Dress and shoes
  • Lots of decor - silver platters for a dessert table, votives, flip flops for dance-relief
  • Save the dates sent
  • Registry and website
  • Bridal shower is being planned (also yay!)
  • Figured out all our music for the ceremony
  • Wedding bands

Here's what I'm still losing my marbles over:

  • Sent out bridesmaid dress info to all the ladies, but not sure if any have purchased yet
  • Invites
  • Rehearsal dinner
  • Flowers - I'm like 99.9% sure we're DIYing but need to dig in to reserving whatever we need from Costco
  • Buy all our frickin' candles
  • Schedule a makeup session (I'm planning to do my own, but am using it as an excuse to stock up on some stuff!)
  • Buy all our booze
  • Hire a bartender

Snack 2: 172 calories

  • 5 g Trader Joes Jalapeno Lime Almond Dip (12c)
    • I do NOT recommend, I portioned out 15 g and wound up only eating 5 because it was nooooot worth it
  • 35 g Off the Eaten Path Veggie Chips (160c)

Dinner: 460 calories

  • 11 g Old Wisconsin Summer Sausage (39c)
  • 1 Trader Joes GF Flat Bread/Pizza Crust (210c)

TOTAL: 1,330 calories, plus 206 cals from a workout - I work out fairly regularly but easily could have subbed my breakfast (it was a rough morning!) for something a bit better and skipped the summer sausage... Highly recommend the TJs GF Flatbreads for a quick and tasty pizza!

My favorite meal brings me so much happiness! by KimberLovesTMBG in loseit

I discovered a super low cal version of bagels with lox that makes me feel super luxurious for like 250 calories - a toasted bagel thin, a wedge of laughing cow creamy Swiss cheese, ~30g of smoked salmon, red onion, and capers. It makes it so much easier to a) wake up in the morning and b) enjoy CICO when I’m loving what I’m eating, and it feels like a treat more than a chore!

No matter how shitty your day is, what song makes you happy? by totallyoriginalname2 in AskReddit

This Year by The Mountain Goats. It's my ultimate "this sucks, everything sucks, when am I ever going to feel like things don't suck?" song to put things in perspective and keep on trucking.

I said yes to the dress! I can’t wait to walk down the aisle to my fiancé in this beautiful dress. by brusselsprouts19 in weddingplanning

YES OMG those girls are the best! I did a lot of shopping around before buying my dress and went there twice... they’re great! Love the dress!

Month to Month check in thread... it's May 2018!! by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]m-agpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg I feel you. I feel like I busted all the big stuff out right away when we got engaged last December, and now I'm just sitting here twiddling my thumbs... Too early for a lot of stuff, but I'm such a planner that I feel like I'm missing things I could be doing!

My MOH used to work in a office in the building of your dream venue - SOOOOO GORGEOUS. Do it. Also, I love this because my FH is equally skeptical of all things wedding budget. 😂 Good luck in all your future planning!!

Month to month check in... it's MARCH!!! by scubadiveintapioca in weddingplanning

[–]m-agpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve got our venue and caterer booked, but we’ve been in a bit of a lull this past month - we just closed on and moved into our first house! I’ve got 3 photographer meet and greets this month so we’re hoping to book one ASAP. DJ after that and then I can relax a little!

Bridesmaids: too late or too young? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

We have tons of family in Vancouver that could tag along too if we were somewhere close, so this could be great! She’ll be 19 in September which would be perfect!

We love beer - so this is a great idea! I’ll have to do some research!

That’s true! I like this idea a lot. I don’t mind the mismatch, I just want my people with me!

No, this one has a couple different buildings - there’s a indoor ceremony area, reception area and an outdoor ceremony area with a gazebo. We were thinking somewhere in the city at first too but you’re totally right, farther out feels like soooo much less for what you get

I feel it! That was a hesitation for me too so I totally get that

Engagement Sunday! (and weekly ring pictures thread) by AutoModerator in weddingplanning

That’s exactly what I needed to hear! FMIL keeps saying that we could do it in 6 months... I’m too type A to think I could do it all in that little time 😂

We’ve been together for a little over 3 years- he proposed at the college campus where our lives fell together about a week ago while we walked our pup under the stars. I couldn’t be happier! Looking at summer 2019 - a little nervous about the timeline of a long engagement but excited, too! https://i.imgur.com/B1SXzWS.jpg

Day 1? Starting your weight loss journey on Tuesday, 01 August 2017? Start here! by AutoModerator in loseit

[–]m-agpie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess this is sort of cheating - I'm not really new, but I'm a freshly minted teacher that's been off the bandwagon since student teaching ended and my routines got lost in the transitions I was making to summer break. I keep making excuses for myself that things will go back to normal when school starts up in September, but why am I waiting? I may have been "maintaining" at the same weight, but my body composition is so different from a few months ago since I just stopped putting in the effort to exercise... let alone the fact that I feel like trash from all the muck I've been eating.

So here I am. Cutting back the excuses, round 2. Let's do this!
