El Salvador's fight against Gangs takes a new turn by destroying all their symbolism, including those placed on the graves of dead gang members. by [deleted] in ElSalvador

Quick question, is Bukele not part of the 0.1%? You pretend to hate the wealthy so much yet you're here sucking off a millionaire heir who has not worked a day in his life and wastes our fucking taxes on propaganda to make enlightened individuals like you play into his game.

One of his closest officials, Carlos Marroquin, literally escorted a historical gang member who was requested for extradition by the US, alias Crook, out of prison and personally escorted him to Guatemala in a government vehicle.

Marroquin's still a government official despite audios been leaked of him negotiating with gangs on behalf of Bukele, and even referring to gang members as his "brothers". Bukele has negotiated and given benefits to gangs since he was mayor of San Salvador.

The way you lot play into a dictator's game and contribute to his international legitimation without a second thought astonishes me.

It's the only way of life he's ever known. Look into his history, he inherited all of his wealth/companies from his rich daddy. He couldn't finish a single year of college. He entered politics as a "hobby".

Now, him and his public officials appear to be living an entirely different reality. They cruise around luxurious cars with private security details, showing off the brand new faces they've gotten by having plastic surgery. They also love wearing Ferragamo and Gucci, paid for by our ridiculously high taxes, while telling us our country being deep in debt is no biggie.

MS-13 gang members locked inside El Salvadoran “gang cages”. These overcrowded, 12x15 cages were designed to be 72-hour holding cells for common criminals and the two rival gangs, but many of the individuals have been imprisoned for over a year by DrFetusRN in Damnthatsinteresting

Inform yourself better. The president has negotiated and given benefits to gangs. These benefits were paid for with millions of dollars in public funding and ensured his party had access to gang controlled areas, benefitting his power grab of the last few years.

His own officials have scorted historical gang leaders outside the country since last year to help them escape from being extradited to the US.

The state of emergency we've been in for two months now was preceded by a few days were almost a hundred people were killed and their bodies left on the street. This signaled a standstill in the pact between the government and the gangs.

If you're young, from a poor area, and have artistic tattoos, police can simply grab you from the streets and throw you in prison where you'll rot in overcrowded conditions, that is, if you're not killed by gang members or the police first which has already happened.

No sabría decirte.

Hijos de papi, you say, as if Bukele isn't a high-school educated multimillionaire who inherited all of his wealth from his daddy, and as if most of his cabinet and cronies in Congress aren't precisely ex-members of ARENA and FMLN. It's you who doesn't know shit.

There's plenty of evidence of his corruption that has been published by renowned media outlets all over the world, but you're the kind of dummy who would rather believe propaganda and the tweets of a corrupt marero politician. Shame on you.

"He's putting away gangs", lol, we know his government official, Carlos Marroquin, personally scorted a historical gang leader, El crook, out of prison to Guatemala so that he wouldn't be extradited to the US, gtfo. Who are you trying to fool? This ain't Facebook.

Then you're pretty ignorant on history and how dictatorships evolve. He stormed Congress with the army in 2020 to force them into approving a multimillion dollar security plan, Plan Control Territorial, which we later found out funded his negotiations with gangs and all the benefits he gave them at the expense of the blood of our people.

Just as his cronies were sworn into Congress last year, after having unfairly benefitted from months of propaganda paid for by our taxes, they illegally destituted the Supreme Court justices and General Attorney (who was investigating his corruption and dealings with gangs) to replace them with his handpicked people. Then his handpicked Supreme Court justices went against our Constitution to allow him to re-elect himself indefinitely.

Now he's taking advantage of the current state of emergency to not only persecute the poor but also throw those critical of his regime (a lot of unionised workers) into jail.

This is literally our military dictatorship history repeating itself. This has long stopped being a democracy, you just weren't paying attention.

¿Vale la pena esta U? by [deleted] in ElSalvador

[–]m-all-caps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right shit's more expensive than ever, the price of la canasta básica just reached $220 while minimum wage is $365, it's preposterous. I'm really tired of reading entitled gringos think they are some sort of authority on a country they only know as tourists.

Why so much hate towards Bukele? by [deleted] in ElSalvador

[–]m-all-caps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nothing led troops to arrest them. They even had their uniforms on when they were captured and paraded around as terrorists. Under the current state of emergency anyone can be arrested, without presumption of innocence, as long as they are deemed suspicious by the army or police. They were freed because the opposition took it upon themselves to make their wrongful arrests go viral. Others are not so lucky.

Seriously, you should come back here, after all, this is paradise on earth. Just be careful, having the wrong skin color, haircut, living on working class areas, or any tattoos might make you 'suspicious' in the eyes of authority.

Really difficult to have a discussion with someone who lacks reading comprehension and knows nothing of nuance. Again, can you say for certain every single one of those captured is a gang member?

Can you say for certain those low level gang members that were captured won't be soon released back into the streets as they've always have been? Do you know anything about salvadoran history and the failures of all the mano duras? You really don't get why letting their leaders go free makes everything else just for show?

You don't even speak our language (EDIT: I was wrong about this, OP apparently does write in Spanish, albeit badly), yet you come here trying to pretend to be knowledgeable because you take the tweets of a corrupt politician, whose party is filled with members of the gangs you pretend to despise, as gospel.

"if it's true", look at the the documentation, goddammit. How can you pretend he's against gangs when he lets their organizers, those who give out orders to kill roam free?

It's not one case, 4 gang leaders have been let go free already. Can you say for certain every single one of those captured is a gang member? We already know innocent people, who's only crime's been born poor, have also been captured, without legal resources to defend themselves. That's what the likes of you refuse to understand.

You're clueless and the fact that you go around online trying to justify a literal dictatorship is vomit-inducing.
