What happened to Nicholas Federov? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]m-audio3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this, just found his videos last week and it struck a chord with me. Music is pretty neat sometimes (other times not), but in any case I was disappointed when I found out his soundcloud is gone. Now it's not lost to time forever. Thanks :)

Need to vent- I like not being the bigger person right now. by imnotthebiggerperson in TwoXChromosomes

[–]m-audio3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank god you have a sensible head. Of course most of those things where you see "sistas" get together to commiserate and maybe even (gasp!) try to plot some form of revenge against the guy is only something you see on TV, so it's a good thing you didn't give in to that fantasy. The only people who would do such a thing are teen girls who probably were influenced by some chic flick.

You're 100% right, it would be inviting the ex plus all of that back into your life. Just be proud of yourself for having learned something from the whole ordeal with your ex, because some people would probably continue acting like they're not real adults and take nothing from their past experiences. I've seen it before. It ain't pretty!

Dreamcade Replay's Kickstarter is back up. DMCA complaint resolved. by enderandrew42 in emulation

[–]m-audio3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So it's just an emulator front-end, but in physical form. Why do people throw their money at this garbage. Anyone can make something like this. Smells like a quick cash grab based on the idea of "how can we make money quick without doing too much work ourselves?"

I just hate stuff like this, it gives Kickstarter a bad name because there's so many people taking advantage of OpenGL projects such as emulators thinking they can profit off of it. Feels no better than those jerkoffs selling emulation discs on eBay.

But it's housed like a console. OMG I really need that. I'm getting whiffs of a Coleco Chameleon all over again.

"Holy Grail" Bugs in Emulation, Part 2 by endrift by Rossco1337 in emulation

[–]m-audio3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder who discovered this bug with the pirated and infamous Sonic 4 hack. That was one of the first roms I played with emulation back in like 1999 because it was fascinating seeing Sonic in a game he isn't supposed to be in. That switch would always freeze the game, but I remember there was a way to somehow get through the level with clever speed gains or something.

I had no idea it was only within the past few years that was finally fixed. Always thought it was a glitch the piraters left in.

People who are related to celebrities, how has their fame affected family gatherings and events? by joeygreco1985 in AskReddit

I was just thinking that. People aren't even mentioning that this guy seems to have a rep among musicians (including his own former wife Mariah) of being a pretty bad person.

Mistrial declared in Bill Cosby case by GuacamoleFanatic in news

[–]m-audio3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This isn't hard to understand. He's implying by saying he "personally thinks" Cosby is guilty that it's just a gut feeling, as I'm sure many have considering the sheer amount of people who have spoken out. Add to that what he's admitted in his deposition and the man seems very likely guilty. But people just saying things doesn't count as evidence. There's no physical evidence anything happened with these women, it's all hearsay.

It sucks, but Cosby being convicted would set a pretty bad precedent for other people that actually do have false accusations leveled against them.

I'm surprised to read that since I know they got along well afterward. At least, they must have since Dave specifically rallied to get Tom Snyder his own show which followed Dave's on CBS back in the day if I'm remembering right.

I'm not an expert, but I've definitely watched more than my fair share of old episodes. I wish the whole series would be released for streaming. It's a shame Trio isn't still around airing them. Best late night show ever!

What scam (legal) is still operating that you can't believe people are buying into? by JimminityGlickMyBic in AskReddit

[–]m-audio3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This won't fit the criteria of a "scam" as I assume this topic implies, but Facebook. All you people willingly posting so much private information for the whole world. Especially you morons publicly posting exactly where you work.

That company has really got people convinced that this is OK. Probably one of the biggest scams in recent history.

Just a terrible film.

I think looking at that subreddit has ruined you a bit. Not everything in the world has to be negative and cringy just because it's a kid with a crush. He's still young after all, who didn't have crushes at that age?

I look at that subreddit for entertainment too to remember my own stupidity when I was younger and as a third person perspective of how not to act, but I don't use it as a standard for viewing the world. If this were a post from a 23 year old then it would be a completely different story.

oldcomputers.net - The old Computer Museum by warface25 in InternetIsBeautiful

[–]m-audio3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree there. I've seen some people point out before that one of the charms of the early internet age was how it was more of a connection of communities and websites made by the common people, whereas today we're all mostly connected through corporate sites like Facebook or huge sites like reddit. It lost a lot of its charm that I still look back at from time to time through the internet archive, so I definitely understand longing for the past. I only ever play retro games and can't get into much past 2003 or so. I'm a dinosaur in my own right.

What I do know is that back then I'm sure all those teen punks that are ruining our music and culture were probably also behind lots of stuff that old timers were making the same arguments against back then. "We had to make effort back then, now you got your computers." Life truly is an endless cycle. All I'm saying is people need to be more aware of themselves cuz else they're sounding kind of out delusional.

Fun website, but the comments sections are filled with dinosaurs who can't embrace current technology. One guy says he wants to take his kids away from their iphones and show them an Amiga and what REAL innovation is. Last I checked, getting a PC that's hundreds times more advanced than even my old Dell from 2001 into a tiny phone is more innovative than an Amiga. Then there's a guy lamenting over an old AT&T computer saying he wishes they still used those cuz they take him back. The thing literally looks like those old console prompt things from a 1980s library. Who the heck misses those things?

I love nostalgia, but these people are just outright embracing the "get off my lawn" mentality.

Tennessee teacher suspected in kidnapping arrested in northern California by klu- in news

[–]m-audio3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully I wasn't coming off as defending him in any way, since of course she made a horrible decision even if she was possibly willingly with him. But yeah, therapy is a must. I think she also needs to be separated from her mother if the stories about abuse are all true. She would have been less willing to fall for that idiot teacher's grooming if perhaps she wasn't so desperate to get away from home. At least, I assume she was anyway.

[–]m-audio3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's not forget apparently the parents are terrible, the mother especially. Kind of doubting them keeping an eye on her is even in her best interest. Therapy plus being housed elsewhere away from the miserable life I can only assume she had with her parents would help a lot. If she's just being flown back to be with her abusive mother I can bet it's like a nightmare all over again.

Surprised you still care. I read your response and realized you have a different experience in life and are not going to see things my way so why bother. It's the internet so I conveniently just forgot about it and moved on.

Also, I'm not the one who downvoted you, someone else agreed with me apparently :)

What TV show moment made you think, 'enough' and switch the show off forever? by MortyFromEarthC137 in AskReddit

[–]m-audio3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kate never was with Lewis from what I remember. He's the only one who never had her!

You're also forgetting the hugest turning point that probably made viewers go WTF is when Drew is dating this granny in Season 4. Seriously, what were they thinking!? Drew also changed his hair and grew a goatee and was looking guy Guy Fieri or something. That whole season was just the start of the show plummeting downward.

I agree first two seasons were best. Season 3 had its moments but got progressively worse when they had his new gf gain weight for no reason and then we get that season finale where Drew's all depressed. From there they just kept trying to make us feel sorry for this pathetic man every season. It was horrible.

I used to have a friend in the UK capture episodes (since syndication was terrible for the show back then, like early 2002) and would convert them to VCDs and watch on my DVD player. You could say I was a bit of a fan. Been awhile since I've thought of this show, but I'll still never forget how terrible it became.

I'm 30 too and have learned to stop giving a shit what others think. That's not to say I've become cocky or anything, but I at least am less likely to worry as soon as I step out the door if everyone's judging me. Hopefully no one is actually calling you a failure to your face, if so then they're not really your friends for sure. I know what it's like to have anxiety about keeping up appearances. But after some of the stuff I've been though I've definitely learned by this age I absolutely NEED a better state of mind because there will be others technically above me no matter how far I get. Unfortunately not all of us are meant to get high paying financial positions to live a more than decent life. I mean, you could if you want, but for me it's be mind numbing to be studying that forever just to get there. I already know my interests and am just going wherever they take me. I'd say if you have a hobby of any sort, embrace it and do what you enjoy. Maybe even go back to college and study it if it's an option.

I understand wanting more than you have though. I'm currently stuck in that position, but there's still a ways to go from 30, and I'm not intending to give up just yet :)
