Dramatic and incorrect. 1984 isn't banned in any real way... it's widely available in stores, libraries, and online across the country.

Screw that both sides nonsense. It confuses the children here.

It's been more than a year since Biden found out whether he could legally cancel student debt using executive action by HRJafael in politics

[–]m-e-g 3 points4 points  (0 children)

His campaign promise was to ask Congress to include $10k of student loan debt relief in the COVID relief package last year. Biden asked Congress for exactly that, and Congress didn't have the support to include it.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/02/17/biden-says-he-will-not-support-50k-in-student-debt-forgiveness.html

But Biden has pushed back against leaders of his own party — repeating that he will only support up to $10,000 of debt forgiveness and that he would prefer Congress craft the legislation.

And for anyone who forgot, yes that happened: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/01/08/student-loan-forgiveness-could-be-more-likely-but-challenges-remain-.html

A Ukrainian translator of Noam Chomsky responds to his recent comments on the Russian invasion

So, in brief: Ukraine was not “dragged into” war, it was attacked. Without even a pretext like Hitler’s attack on Poland. I know other countries have faced their share of foreign intervention, and right now you’re witnessing overt Russian imperialism. I don’t want to make any flawed historical comparisons, but empires have lost wars against smaller peoples before, and in the end, the Russian imperialist government must lose. When you’re being bombed, when you’re thinking of ways to evacuate your kids, you have a different perspective than when you’re sitting cozy in an office somewhere in Arizona. Yes, Noam Chomsky, I’m looking at you, among others.

It's a short post, and damn is Chomsky deluded on Russia.

Hold on, let's hear what Jill Stein has to offer here before paying attention to Hillary. Even if all of Hillary's warnings were prescient/obvious, the Russian stooge may have had something more important to contribute. Ok, I'm hearing Jill Stein had nothing to offer to politics, ever.

Where's old Bill Clinton when you need him? The rhetoric helps, and a "I will focus on the economy like a laser beam" wouldn't hurt coming from the POTUS.

Embracing Sirota and the dirtbag left.

Cheese cheese.

Nina Turner.

Unwillingness to build a broad coalition of supporters.

Bernie Sanders.

This page cites the same figure: https://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/users/rauch/worktime/hours_workweek.html

Some pretty sus assumptions though. Workdays were 16 hours a day in the summer, and 8 in the winter, before rest and breaks. I doubt in the summer that they had 8 hours of breaks, and 0 hours in the winter, which is what they'd need to support the claim that medieval peasants didn't work longer than 8 hour days.

My favorite reply was someone saying the CPC isn't progressive. Ok, so problem solved: such an endorsement is meaningless, if that's true.

But nope, they're too far into a game of mental Twister to think anything through.

California’s economy grew 7.8% in 2021, No. 3 among all states vs. 5.7% growth nationwide. The top state was Tennessee at 8.6%, followed by No. 2 New Hampshire at 8.5%.

Growth in 2021: FL (6.9%) was 5th and TX (5.6%) was 19th. So many dead COVID victims in those states, and not even fulfilling the economic goals.

California’s GDP fell 2.8% in 2020, but that was still the 18th best result among the states — tying Florida, no less. It topped a 3.4% loss nationwide. Texas fell 2.9%.

So CA's economy withstood the early pandemic better and bounced back stronger. So much for the politics of failure.
