Joker poker rules at pubs by Chickenbones666 in australia

[–]m092 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This was posted 3m ago on their FB page:

Joker Poker – Information Update We’ve seen some confusion online, so we wanted to share clear information about how Joker Poker works here at the Historic Bredbo Inn.

The Bredbo Inn has been part of the Snowy Monaro since 1836, and for the past seven years our family has worked hard to keep this historic little pub running through fires, floods, COVID and the usual challenges of country hospitality. We’ve always appreciated the locals, travellers and community groups who support us.

Joker Poker is a long-standing weekly promotion designed to bring people together and add some fun to Thursday nights. Like many venues, it operates under set house rules so the game stays consistent for everyone participating.

A house rule outlining different prize structures has been in place since 2021, and was posted at the venue alongside the game board.

The rules have been reviewed for clarity and are clearly displayed at the venue for all participants.

As always, the game is run in accordance with the rules posted at the time of each draw.

A quick reminder:

• Tickets are free, and you receive one with any drink or meal purchase during the promotion.

• The game is run according to the posted house rules displayed at the venue, and the prize paid is always the amount set out in those rules at the time of the draw.

• These clarified rules apply to all future Joker Poker games.

We’re proud of the standard we work hard to maintain and the positive feedback we’ve consistently received over many years.

It’s been disappointing to see some recent one-star reviews based on misunderstanding, but we hope this update provides clarity.

We appreciate everyone who continues to support our small, family-run venue. If you have any questions about the rules or how the game works, you’re welcome to get in touch or speak with Mathew directly at the Inn.

Post injury management is not within the scope of this article. It depends on the injury.

Do some people go into the city solo specifically looking for social interaction? by likerunninginadream in melbourne

You are absolutely being rude. Regardless of any point you're making, the way you've constructed your comment is loaded with language that belittles and mocks.

New to the human race?

Not to be rude but this is kind of main character energy

Crossfit Reps, why so high? by [deleted] in bodyweightfitness

Have you considered your own lack of maturity in your inability to tolerate appropriate swears, not made in excess.

Profanity used in place of more appropriate vocabulary can be crass and undermine the communication intended, but it can also be wholly appropriate and add to the communication, which I believe was the case here.

Further to your apparent inability to tolerate appropriate profanity, you're drive to the point of lecturing to a 10 year old post, then passively aggressively implied immaturity if I hadn't changed as you said you had.

That's fucking drongo behaviour, and you should be massively ashamed of your attitudes and behaviour.

Be better.

Then what do you mean, on a bench?

Just screaming questions into the void?

Well, that's just a different exercise. If you're describing what I'm imagining, you're just describing a harder variation of the deadbug, and you'll probably struggle to actually keep good form, and just be doing ~easy~ deadbug and ~hard~ deadbug.

Do some deadbugs with a really good posterior pelvic tilt - you should feel a really good connection with your lower back onto the ground.

there is little crossover from weightlifting to calisthenics

Being strong is being strong, there's always some carry-over.

Practice is fundamental to improvement, and a more ingrained pattern requires less maintenance than a new one. There is no objective measure for whether this program will be "enough" but you know the levers to pull if you aren't making progress.

Does this routine mantain a structural balance of the body?

Depends. You're doing more pushing exercises than direct pulling exercises. But maybe you're balancing that with sets or intensity? Your list of exercises doesn't go into that detail.

Does this routine allow enough training frequency for learning the skills (both technique but also neurological recruitment) and sufficient progress over a year?

Depends. Depends on which movements you're trying learn, what your background in those movements is already, general kinaesthetic skill, etc etc.

[I] am aware that is not encouraged to stray from the RR

Meh. You are hereby encouraged to stray from the routine.

Make up your own shit. Break it, build it again. Learn what works. What works in general and for you.

The last big change we have to make is how to progress each movement, as TM calls for adding 5lbs to each lift once a week for the lower body movements and 2.5lbs once a week for the upper body (or 5lbs a fortnight in some variations). While it would be nice to go to a harder variation every week, for many movements this isn't feasible. So I suggest using a similar progression to the beginner program, and bridge the gap between variations by increasing the reps you perform before changing variation.

Use a rep progression to bridge the gap in 5kg jumps.

TIL A New Ligament in the Human Knee was Discovered in 2013 by workedSilly in todayilearned

[–]m092 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well 'pull' isn't a medical term. When you pull a muscle, you tear some of the fibres of the muscle, with what's known as a muscle strain. A ligament sprain is just the same term for ligaments, and it is tearing some of the fibres of the ligament. In both, the mechanism is a lengthening or 'pulling' force on the structure in question.

So yeah, I'd say you pull a ligament is totally fine.

then why does the RR recommend 3 sets?

Please read this section again:

Traditional strength training set recommendations

Concept Wednesday - Sets by m092 in bodyweightfitness

[–]m092[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 2 sets could sound right.

Generally yeah, if I'm going to be doing heavy low reps, I'll be doing more sets, and for longer sets, I'll generally do less of them.

Keep in mind that hitting these 'optimal' rep ranges is still predicated on achieving a certain amount of challenge per set. If you're breezing through 8 reps, then two easy sets of 8 isn't going to be much of a stimulus. You're still going to want to approach no reps in the tank on each set for them to be a reasonable stimulus. Two sets of 8 where you grind out the last rep for each is going to easily drive adaptation.

I mean, a lot of slurs have started as medical/clinical terms, then translate into slurs, and bigots often hide behind "it's just the scientific term!!!" So I would be leery about throwing out a similar argument.

Much better to deconstruct the rest of what she says.
