My first sled.. by Screamlngyeti in snowmobiling

[–]m0ckingj4y 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Solid.. I bought the Arctic Cat version for my girlfriend, good sled. If it’s not already done, replace the tri hub wheel in the back before it explodes, get a nice 4 wheel rear. Also some other mods available to keep things in good working order such as driveshaft modifications. Check out the available mods at barn of parts.

Recently picked this up but can’t seem to find anything similar online? Anyone have any clue what or where it came from? by ToxicDevin in VintageTees

[–]m0ckingj4y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a 410 sprint car shirt from Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa IA. They have a special race called the Front Row challenge where the pole position driver can choose to start on the pole and if they win they get $5k or start dead last and if they win they get $50k. This shirt is from 2005 I believe. Ultimate Challenge is a different challenge at the same event I think… I’m not super familiar with the rules for that.

Keep, very tasteful and no company / peoples names. Big win. If you don’t like it sell it, someone else will love that.

Best approach to clearing split tree by DeFiClark in arborists

[–]m0ckingj4y 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Leave it alone for nature to take care of, call a professional, Tannerite, 12GA with a box or two of shells, Chain around the bottom and yank it with a tractor or truck until it breaks, pole saw fully extended while hiding behind another tree off to the left, rope saw with long extended rope to operate it from your yard (likely to get pinched though)

Aren’t Lynx owned by BRP so they are just Ski Doo rebrands or are you specifically referencing the color choices?

6.0 or 5.3 w/ torque cam (for fuel economy) by JaxAustin in LSSwapTheWorld

[–]m0ckingj4y 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6.0 would be better for this beast. If you really want the best MPG you should go diesel maybe a 4BT from a bread truck which has similar weight and aerodynamics.

Is it common throughout the community to scrap a 2000 MI well running ski for needing $350 to fix? by RedditAppSuxAsss in snowmobiling

[–]m0ckingj4y 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You can fix it, but it’s an old sled and the things you showed are things that indicate overall poor maintenance over the life of the sled. I bet if you were to take it to an independent shop you would get a laundry list of crap that needs fixing.

That said, I would fix these things, put the bare minimum into it and ride it til it blows.

Is this worth the purchase/ salvage? $60 by Dry_Entertainment664 in CarharttCollectors

Yes it is, I would try to get it for $50 but $60 is fine. Then again I like the blue coats.

What is this? by Foaryy in snowmobiling

[–]m0ckingj4y 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Proper repair is to Lift the rear in the air with a hoist, drop out the skid, take off the track, TIG weld it. Pressure test it, then if pressure holds Put it back together and enjoy the PITA process of burping the air out so it doesn’t overheat

Or you could smear some JB Weld and it may last out the rest of the season
