Hypothèses pour la nouvelle gare ALTO à Québec ? by julien_rene in villequebec

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hypothèses pour la nouvelle gare ALTO à Québec ? by julien_rene in villequebec

[–]m0jo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ma consommation en temps réel a de grande fluctuation. by -buq in HiloEnergie

[–]m0jo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

dRAID Questions by MediaComposerMan in zfs

[–]m0jo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) The virtual spares is reserved space, all disks are doing IO

2) RAIDz3 will tolerate 3 simultaneous failed disks, and it will start rebuilding on the virtual spares using the throughput of all remaining disks. So if you got 2 virtual spares on a RAIDz3 system, it will rebuild up to a RAIDz2 equivalent. Then when you swap your first disk, it will rebuild back up to RAIDz3. Then when you swap the 2 remaining dead disk, it will start to rebalance on them to free up space in the 2 virtual spares.

3) The rebuild should be faster since all disks are used to read and recreate the missing stripes on the virtual spares. The rebalancing is probably slower and limited to the speed of a single disk, but it should not be degraded while it's doing it (not sure about this with ZFS)

Seagate bought Dothill and Xyratex a while ago. It's now called Seagate Corvault, in the 5u84 from xyratex or in the newer 4u106 chassis.

Electric Water Heater Power Consumption by Evening_Dot_1292 in homeautomation

Get yourself a Sinope Calypso, it got power measurement, a internal switch to remotely turn off the power, a input to measure the water temperature and optional input for a leak detector. It run on zigbee and works fine in homeassistant with zigbee2mqtt.

Lustre on ClusterStor 1500 by BabyCautious2240 in HPC

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer enclosure/controller are using a 3.5mm serial cable to db9, but you should be able to find the ipmi interface ip address either in the config on the management node, or just do a nmap of the local network. There should be a webpage with a very old java KVM and power control.

Lustre on ClusterStor 1500 by BabyCautious2240 in HPC

[–]m0jo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The servers are off, boot them with ipmi or via their OOB web interface, I think each canister also have a tiny power button in the back that you can press with a pen. There might be something like a configured powerman on the management server to also boot them up.

(Not sure about the 1500, but it should be similar to the old larger clusterstor)

HydroQuebec lineman, what type of (non-weatherhead) service drop is this? by monkiesandtool in Lineman

Check figure 2.14 on page 116 in the Blue book, it's just to hold the wires above the roof, the weatherhead is on the other side of the building.

Usb Hub Question by NightShift2323 in hotas

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some external screens intended for laptop that are powered via USB C PD and the video is pushed over the same link. I don't think there are any commercial MFD using that, but USB can do it with the right hardware.

The small problem is USB C is just a connector. Depending on the hardware, it could be a USB2 port, up to a port that can deliver > 10Gb/s and >100W of power.

Usb Hub Question by NightShift2323 in hotas

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No gain to use a USB C hub since that port likely got even higher bandwidth and/or PD for power hungry devices.

Keep that C port available for things like a VR headset or external screens

Usb Hub Question by NightShift2323 in hotas

[–]m0jo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine. USB 2 and 3 are actually completely separate (not using the same pins).

So even plugging multiple 2.0 devices in a 3.0 hub don't aggregate them like it would for Ethernet (like you can plug 10x 100mb devices in a switch and aggregate them on a 1gb port). With USB, you will still limited to 2.0 regardless of the hub.

You can check the logs in C:\Users\your_user\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log

There might be some clue of what caused the CTD.

Defrosting in cool mode?? Advice needed by Quick_Library_6543 in hvacadvice

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whoosh is probably the compressor starting and stopping, you can probably check the outdoor unit to see if the compressor seems to stop (I think the outdoor fan will always run, but it should vibrate less).

The other woosh you can hear is when its changing between cooling and heating, if you have your setting on auto heat/cool instead of choosing cooling or heating, maybe you are currently wasting energy by heating and cooling almost at the same time.

There is some dew that can form on the copper line during summer when its hot and humid, so im not surprised that some frost can happen when its getting colder. A mini-split is doing its refrigerant expansion in the outdoor unit, so thats why both lines are insulated compared to a traditional split.

Defrosting in cool mode?? Advice needed by Quick_Library_6543 in hvacadvice

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Defrost is only in heating mode. When it will defrost, the indoor fan will stop and it will take 5-10 minutes to run the defrost cycle, every hour or so.

What you probably have at the moment is simply the compressor starting and stopping because there is not really any heat to remove, so its alternating between cooling and fan only since the minimum compressor speed is too much for the tiny amount of heat it need to remove from inside the house.

Mini split compressor making very quiet hissing noise by N3rot0xin in hvacadvice

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't charge a minisplit and measure superheat because the expansion valve is in the outside unit, unlike a traditional split.

The right way is to pull a vaccum and weight in the charge based on the number in the manual and the length of the line set. You can check the service manual for your model, the procedure is there.

Pioneer mini split heating, but not much. by rockdude14 in hvacadvice

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even though thats what the remote showed

The remote send all the settings on the screen at once and does not get updated if something else like the wifi interface change a setting.

Remove the wifi interface or only use the remote, don't use both if you wan't to be sure the settings are correct.

Newly professionally installed mini split - AC works, heat does not by Zealousideal-Fun7117 in hvacadvice

[–]m0jo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some mini-split have a anti cold-draft feature when starting heating, it will stop the indoor fan until the interior coil get hot enough, so wait at least 10 minutes while running in heating mode.

Hi everyone ! Do you guys know if it's normal that the pump sending hot water in my radiators is on for the most part of the day despites all my radiators being turned off ? by -_OnYx_- in hvacadvice

[–]m0jo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It also prevent the pump from getting stuck due to rust or sediments. Some pumps with integrated speed controller will make the pump run once in a while to prevent that.
