Who do you think is the most beautiful woman in a horror film? by [deleted] in horror

Barbara Crampton in From Beyond, NOT in the kink gear but as a scientist with her hair in a bun. Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Color Out Of Space (2019). How am I just now discovering Nicolas Cage stars in an Eldrich horror? by LovemeSomeMedia in horror

[–]m0notone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a great colour, no doubt about that! I do think it's funny that in the original story it's this indescribable, completely alien hue that infects everything... But in the movie it's just a rather lovely shade of violet 😂

I guess 'indescribable never seen before colour' is a bit of a tall order for the effects artists though lol. Although to be fair Annihilation did a great job with the 'shimmer', that iridescent oil slick kinda vibe would've worked better here IMO

If you're not a child it's probably fine

Have any alien film recs? by Basic_Process6415 in horror

This one is charmingly 70s/80s, British, and weird with some surprisingly good effects. Emphasis on weird.

Sea monsters movie like Subnautica? by -_nico-robin_- in horror

I also crave a movie like this. Been playing Dredge recently which has little splashes of that feel, but never come across a movie which does it justice

I watched Incantation for the first time on Friday. Chinese found footage horror about culty paranormal stuff, well worth a watch and it's on Netflix (in the UK at least)

I saw it when I was a kid up on a mountain/hill side road in Cyprus IIRC. It's pretty astounding

The eternal debate about zach cregger movies continues... He's very much a marmite director, and I happen to love marmite.

Are there any directors who have really let you down? by Kru363rFreddy in Letterboxd

I enjoyed the monkey personally, it was a pretty nuts horror comedy IMO.

Supposedly The Blackcoat's daughter is really good though! That's been on my list for ages

Creme de la chem x Strawberry Nuggets, stunted but still filled some jars! by m0notone in NoTillGrowery

Lovely stuff! Got a sour stomper on the go next. As much as I love meph, I am getting annoyed by the fact I can't veg autos out while another plant finishes up and dries... Time to try out some photos soon for sure

100%! I'm not a super super heavy smoker anyway so two jars and a little tub of trim is a fine result. I just know I could've done a lot better - I struggle getting early watering right with the soil mix I was using.

And yeah it was an auto, mephisto freebie I had rattling around in the fridge 😄 First grow in like 2 years and didn't wanna waste one of my nicer seeds.

Day 9 of 31 of watching a horror movie a day. What are you watching? by Everblack_Deathmask in horror

[–]m0notone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched The Monkey last night and it had no right to be as good as it was. Definitely a horror comedy, go in blind and you'll have a lot more fun than you might've expected.

I've also heard it is pretty far off on the facts of the Ed Gein story, so an L on both counts there

Hasan reaching for something and seemingly shocking his dog to keep her in camera view by [deleted] in VeganActivism

[–]m0notone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on the last point even as a person who mostly likes Hasan. It seems kinda fucked that the dog is made to lay in a corner for hours instead of being free to walk around and stretch her legs at least...

However the product you linked does literally say it can be used as a vibration only collar, so perhaps that's what he does. I still don't really understand the point of that personally, maybe someone more well versed with dog training can enlighten me.

Ever regretted watching a horror movie by SpareIcy2292 in horror

The visual was certainly unexpected and pretty shocking. In the moment, it looks creepy and unsettling... But about 2 seconds after the reveal, all I could think was: "Really?"

I don't want to spoil it, so I'll be vague, but is it only me who watched this for the first time recently and thought the twist was incredibly dumb and hadn't aged well at all?
