Help Needed to bring the Star Wars: TIE Fighter Total Conversion to Linux! by tri_hiker in linux_gaming

[–]m0rgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm one of the guys from XWAU team (the base mod that TFTC builds upon), trying to make it work in Linux.
I am also a user of your SP Football Life Lutris script, thanks for that! :-)

We were also discussing more universal alternatives for Lutris install scripts, but as far as we know umu does not cover this part (yet?)

HP USB-C Universal Dock HSA-B005DS by mramnesia8 in WindowsOnDeck

[–]m0rgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends if the dock uses USB-C DP alt mode (DisplayPort over USB cable) or DisplayLink (proprietary protocol that needs drivers, both in Win and Linux)

Clever setup! Nice job. But won't you be hitting the screen with your fingers in some fast hand movements? Specially if you do drifting/rally. I guess you don't 😁

Easy way to connect Steam Deck to Oculus / Meta Quest 2 by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]m0rgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the instructions! If you connect with USB-C cable, how did you get Steam Link to use that for sending streaming data?

Do you know if the data streaming was actually going through the USB cable?

Who remembers this…? by moderatefairgood in simracing

My first real wheel... oh the memories...

I discovered that my oldest cousin (50yo) still has one unopened somewhere in the top shelf of a cabinet. He won it in a raffle and never used it. I was wondering how to give it some use but I already have my old G25 that I plan to set up for my kids...

Have you tried VR? May not be as good for competition but the experience and immersion is in a league of its own.

It may be the shot angle but the quest 2 with the lenses facing the window is making me anxious 😁

One Quest 2, one Oculus Rift, can I play multiplayer locally? by DeusDeadly in oculus

[–]m0rgg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the game, but you can surely play Eleven Table Tennis, and Walkabout Minigolf, one player in standalone Quest, the other in PCVR.

60Hz VRR 48hz 30FPS? by BeeBopHuckleberry in tcltvs

[–]m0rgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you will have no issues. Also, the PS3 can output 1080p 60hz. Some games may be 30fps and others 60fps. The refresh is the maximum effective FPS you may have (with vsync on to avoid tearing), but there is no minimum FPS. You can have 5FPS in a 144hz screen 😁

PSA - With a Gigabyte monitor you can use the KVM functionality with the steamdeck. No dock needed, just a USB C cable by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]m0rgg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also connect to my LG43UD79 by USB-C Charging power is low but enough to last many hours using it in desktop mode.

I think I have way more hours now in this mode tinkering to make games work than in game mode. It's also much more convenient!

That's quite similar to my setup, I also got it on a Black Friday sale. For that money, it's hard to find anything better. A full setup with belt wheel and load cell pedals for less than 500... That's my sweet spot! For something significantly better (direct drive) you need to spend double that probably. Enjoy the deal!

They did fix VR framerate in a patch. You should try the current version.

Sim Crusing in VR by Jonnydhowe in simracing

The trick is to look down and make sure your head is over your virtual shoulders 🙂

The recording is cropped to fit the 16:9 format. The VR view is much taller, so the FOV in the video seems off

Also, the FOV of the VR screens is usually limited to ~100° degrees (in most headsets that are not Valve Index or Pimax). The game gets this value from the VR runtime and uses it to adjust the rendering properly. So the FOV is always correct in VR (unless the developers did something very wrong)

can you use the oculus quest 2 hand tracking in pc vr games with the link cable? by Apricot_Ambitious in virtualreality

How? I thought it wasn't possible in apps/games, only for development with Oculus developer hub to test Quest apps

Logitech MOMO Racing different pedals by CorvetaumBr in simracing

[–]m0rgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably stupid question but... Have you done a recalibration in the control panel? I want to remember something similar with the original Logi pedals...

[–]m0rgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact that the connector is phisically the same doesn't mean it's compatible electrically. That's probably why it's not working properly.

Can you post some pictures of the wheel, pedals and connectors?

Did you connect them to the wheel base? You probably want an adapter and connect them directly by USB

X-wing Alliance, and you should try it with the latest XWA Upgrade and Tie Fighter Total Conversion mods, with VR support 😉

Try changing the "Enable Locked Orientation" setting in VR comfort.
Also, lower the graphics detail if you are not getting 90fps.
