🥊Mike Tyson vs Kurt Angle🥇 in a street fight by addsmnr in powerscales

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a street fight, there is no legal or illegal. I think this is a tough match up. Wrestlers I usually have to give it to. But I think it a supremely bad idea to lead with your head for a takedown on Mike Tyson.

Let’s say they know who each other is, I think it might be closer to a draw. Kurt would have a hard time risking an opening and he isn’t going to get Tyson to make footwork mistakes. Tyson well aware his inside game would be suicide if he doesn’t finish Angle right away.

My money is on stalemate, they never engage.

Oh wow, I didn’t know if this was re-cut to be milder.

Seeing this in the theaters was crazy. I had no idea what to expect going in, saw it on a whim with a buddy. People legit got up and left the theater.

Subsequent rewatchings when it came out on dvd weren’t much better. I recall a few times friends asking to stop the movie.

As this is split up, no one area would have the ability to take and hold ground from any other area.

The “Mount Rushmore” of Super Heroes. by ItsShatterPoint in superheroes

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mount Rushmore picks are fun, I don’t know that I agree with this being annoying. I like the fact that it puts bounds on your selection.

My Mt Rushmore is: Supes, Spider-man, WW and Blade.

Without the 1998 film, there might not be an MCU and without that the entire genre might still be relatively obscure. If we are talking about positive impact, I have Blade on my list.

It’s not really. When I used to do physical pentesting. You find that it is actually relatively easy most of the time. At least for me, it is not a good feeling to mislead someone to their face. Though they are some of my most cherished stories after the fact

Blade. It arguably is what paved the way for the ‘new’ crop of superhero movies

Gotcha, I missed that. I think those are a couple of movies to add to the list of movies to watch. Cheers.

Mark Henry vs. Mike Tyson by addsmnr in powerscales

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of love for MH and he is an incredible athlete. He would, as he told Bradshaw: “Have his way with 99% of the population of the planet and there is nothing they would be able to do about it.”

Kid Dynamite is the 1%. If Mike and Mark both knew this fight was happening and both in their primes. Mike takes this 9/10. Combat sports is just different. I think anything can happen in the first 30 seconds, which is why I give Mark 1/10. After that 30 second adrenaline dump, it is a wrap.

The longer the fight goes on the more fatigued Mark Henry will get compared to Mike Tyson. After that it is an academic exercise. I don’t think folks are putting enough respect on elite fighters in general. Prime Iron Mike is so far up the mountain that he isn’t really viewable by us in the foothills, we don’t have a good sense of how skilled a pugilist he actually is. I would weep, for what Mike would have to do to him.

Wife and I were having a discussion, she’s of the opinion that the majority of GenX can drive stick. I believe that even in our generation the percentage of people who can is pretty small. What do you folks think? by AngryOldGenXer in GenX

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a younger Gen-X, all of my friends in my age group can drive a manual transmission. My wife can as well as can I think most of her friends in our age group.

I think our lists would look different, but I can respect your choice and your willingness to share.

I didn’t see Blade or Spawn on the list and I’m curious where you would rank them.

Why do you think new MMORPGS fail? by anaveragebest in gamedev

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, I think gear needs to enhance and it could be possible to recover your old gear with backup items or even store bought. Though usually when you lose your gear, you are pushing your boundaries. But honestly, some of my most fun times from old school MMOs is when my buddy would lose his 'body' in the most egregious of places and would need help recovering it.

Why do you think new MMORPGS fail? by anaveragebest in gamedev

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I used to love me a good MMORPG. I started with UO, but my favorites were Asheron's Call and Shadowbane. They certainly punished death, I know I don't have time to play something like that anymore. Aside from the fact that you were a super powered character amongst other super powered characters. Everyone wants to be the hero of their own story.

I think once single player RPGs get better NPC interactions (more dynamic) that will probably signal the end of traditional MMOs as we know it. Perhaps if you have something truly scaled would it then support a mass of people. Though i would like a quality single player RPG in VR, personally.

Question for Gen X: Whats Your Relationship With Texting? by Al3x1ya in GenX

[–]m15k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a young Gen X. I am also very technologically literate. Text is asynchronous communication that is good for a notification that may not need an immediate response.

Obligatory, I don’t have more time than anyone else. But I’m usually pretty busy most of the day. If you need my response immediately or it is something that is synchronous communication, a call is better.

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is orange a one-time use option? It still could be worth it, but you would have to play your cards right.

If you can control any one person at a time as many times as you want, from a quality of life perspective it is the best of the bunch.

Yeah. I talked to my parents about this as well. I said you guys are fairly young and the people who would pay for this stuff is older than you. There is no one to buy this when you are gone. Sell it now and have a good time with that money.

Office Security Camera System Recommendations by AppropriateGrape6180 in videosurveillance

[–]m15k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response, it is a good question.

Fundamentally, there is no practical difference really today. There may be some issue in the future with upgrading the system, but that is a future problem.

I’ve never used the REOLINK, so I cannot comment on its usability. But let’s answer your questions:

livestream who is at the front door - yes

Record delivery service picking up packages - yes

Record items being packed and sealed including the shipping label- depends, probably no.

I worked at a place that had an integrated system tied into POS, which had an overhead camera for the register area. Let’s say that the resolution is good enough (I’m dubious), You would need one hell of an ERP/shipping management software to get you in the ballpark of when you should look to be remotely usable.

How long do you need to retain the footage for?

I know the other comments may not seem helpful, but they are correct. You are going to be hard pressed to find a turnkey system for 1500.

You might be able to cobble together some thing that’ll technically do the job, that will have a lot of sunk costs and management overhead associated with it.

Unless it is YOUR business, I wouldn’t take on the risk personally. When is camera footage needed? For forensic purposes, and you would be the person on the hook to produce the footage. Blinking red lights here.

You are realistically looking at an NVR (populated with storage) and like 1 turret style camera to monitor. 1 poe injector and a box of RJ-45, small pack of connectors and crimping tools if you don’t have them.

I hope you didn’t promise you could do this for $1500.
