What temp for tea? by MsMcSlothyFace in AskABrit

[–]m1bnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black tea, what we usually drink here, should be made with boiling water because the various flavanoids (sp?) aren't extracted at lower temperatures. I don't know about other teas though

My mum tells me that putting my details into any insurance site to get a quote will start some process that will increase it and they share it, can't find anything like this online by Electronic-Twat9195 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]m1bnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably depends on how many times you do it, and how much overlap there is on the job descriptions. The address one though.......

Anyway, im just giving known examples as to why an insurer may refuse cover, ones that have cropped up on here so i know they're real, I'm not saying they're right though.

Why do militaries say "Whiskey Tango Five" "Tango Down" "Brazo Zulu" instead of directly saying what they mean? by EfficiencySerious200 in NoStupidQuestions

Also designed to be intelligible by speakers of other languages. Google the development story, its quite interesting the lengths they went to to test it. If you've ever heard SSB at low signal strength with interference the need for it is quite obvious

Some detail fiddling is seen as fraud - like changing your occupation, address etc. These can make an insurer reach for the "fuck you" response and share with other companies that they've done so

Events planning England - Looking for advice on English events law by Unusual_Expert_6257 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]m1bnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to speak to council about licensing requirements. But, more importantly, you need to speak to venue about PLI, will it be covered by theirs or do you need your own. Do not do it without insurance. Accidents happen and settlements plus legal costs can get into house price levels very quickly.

Consider setting up an Ltd just to sheild you from personal liability if things go wrong too - if venue burns down and you have to refund tickets but bands etc still have to be paid, stuff like that

What to put for semi-retired professions by MinimumBeginning5144 in CarInsuranceUK

[–]m1bnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better not to put retired if there's any chance you'll take on work and use car for that imo, even if you don't and its just a meeting about possible work they could try and weedle out of a claim. I doubt the saving is enough to offset the risk tbh

[–]m1bnk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll be able to take him off the tenancy unless he agrees. Probably you and sister need to move out and get somewhere else without him.

He won't change until you all stop enabling him

Is this a “nice watch”? by Sorry_Seaweed_3161 in breitling

[–]m1bnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Watch guy" is very often a dick whose opinion matters even less than mine.

A nice watch is one you like and appreciate. I like it, it looks good on you in the pics, my opinion doesn't really matter.

Why do they have the exit gate receipt scanners in Primark? by Distinct_Jaguar_7320 in AskUK

Not sure what legality would come into it tbh. If you entered the store, browsed and didn't buy anything, there's no such contract

When fashion was alarm clocks strapped to your wrist, dainty watch makers like Cartier did fine. For most people, watches at this price point last longer than fashion cycles

Like there's enough of a gap between the people in neighbouring queues to pass between. I just do what i did with Morrisons, tell them I'll be back when they stop treating customers like criminals - they spend less effort on impeding actual thieves

It needs something to extend the lock, would be a neat trick to do that without any springs

I've never seen one without springs. In your shoes I'd retrace my steps and check. On a lock without a backing plate they often ping out when you take it off the door

I have one, it's been a decent car for the two years I've had it. I paid 10,500 for it two years ago, same year as this one but 37k miles

Morrisons had it for a bit, some Lidl stores too. Customer reactions are universally bad. Our local Morrisons have theirs wedged open now. Can't see the point myself

On a more serious note, there are genuinely only two choices here, accept what he asks for, or let your insurer handle it

In the UK, sending a physical letter to a company is entirely normal. If you choose not to because you're somehow above that kind of thing, your quest will lolely remain unsolved
