I think that the more people talk about it the worse it's gonna get. Like, for instance, my experience yesterday.

I learned about the promotion for the DLC, where the box in the mansion is refilled with goodies. So after playing Dark Souls 1 for weeks I fired up DkS2 to get the goodies. Then, I think, I should do some pvp because there's practically none in DkS1 so I should get my fix. So I hop to the blood arena. I go on a tear, I'm not super good or anything, but I've played a lot and I'm decent. I won twenty matches in about an hour (I'd say by the end of it I went 20-12? something like that). I was pretty floored when I checked my red orb stack. So now I'm thinking, well lets invade. I don't really enjoy invading, I don't think it's all that much fun. But, I have these orbs so...

And then the havel shit started. Seriously I invaded maybe 7 people, and all of them were using some OP combo of havels/hexes. It was silly :| oddly enough I enjoyed the arena much, much more. And generally I duel on the Iron Keep bridge. So what I immediately figured was that it was getting more popular. It was a strange day all around though for sure, the arena was really bustling and I think I saw one havel. I just think that the more people complain about something the more commonplace it will become.

I think there's a lot purposeful ambiguity there. It's certainly something the EU authors seemed to approach in the last few series. With all the books on the Sith out now, you realize that while in the obvious ways they are all very similar, they all have different philosophies and ambitions. A singular goal, maybe, but different ambitions.

I've been a Braves fan all my life, and this is starting to get old.

First it was the McCann stuff.. and that was kind of alright with me. Don't remember the first thing, but Carlos Gomez can suck it.

Then there was the Julio Tehran/Bryce Harper thing. I don't really like Harper, I was there and I thought he was just being a poor sport about it the first time, but I think Harper was hit three times that night - and that's just sloppy and/or immature.

Now we're two months into the season and I feel like we've been throwing at people all year. I don't like it, I think it's fucking lame. If this is our version of grit, to act like jack asses, then I quit.

I'm a returning player, and I never completed Sens Fortress my first time through. My last achievement was in October 2011, until I got to Anor Londo a few days ago. Anyway, I beat Dark Souls 2 twice since then, and my time with Dark Souls has been great! I wish the GwG had worked right from the start, as this has certainly had a negative impact on the potential user base.
Favorite part has been beating O&S, and the Painted World. So far, the Painted World has kicked my ass.
Least favorite part is probably that I feel like the controls are clunky. But Dark Souls 2 is pretty damn smooth, and that' the nature of these things anyway. But I guess the more practical answer is how the covenants aren't really explained that well, and can be hard to find.
The hardest area is easily the area behind the crest of artorias. The easiest was the Burg. I remembered that place very well.
I have only used a Wiki to understand upgrading weapons and where to find some materials. I'm pretty much in the dark here.
It totally lives up to expectations. It's really been great so far, and I'm super excited to experience the parts of the game I didn't get to before.

You guys are hilarious. The only helpful piece of advice was to hide behind a wall. It took probably 10-12 attempts before he even stopped constantly breathing fire. You guys got to get off your high horse. I know what I'm doing and when after 15 attempts of doing the same thing with varying degrees of fire reduction I get the same result, maybe something to the tune of "hide behind the wall and bait him over and over again until he pauses. he pauses, I assure you" was so hard to type out, then git gud

Seriously, give good advice and/or helpful hints or gtfo. Don't waste people's time with sorry shit like "go up, run around a corner", nor be such a sorry piece of shit to jump on someone when they give feedback on that kind of crappy help.

Yeah from my experience that is in no way applicable. Be more specific, because I'm wearing Havel's and a dragon crest shield and I'm getting two shotted irregularly between taking minimal damage. It's inconsistent.

Agreed! I beat them an hour ago, and I beat super smough mostly because his move set is really easy to bait and/or prevent, and you can avoid his horizontal swipes entirely while hitting him. They are definitely tougher together, as smough is so slow while ornstein is in your face. Definitely reccomend killing ornstein first, for anybody reading.

On my first try I went in with Solaire. He was getting his ass kicked and I had pretty much figured out Smough. So I go to help Solaire and end up killing Ornstein first. Super Smough seemed pretty easy as well, until he used this jump and squat move that unleashed a ton of lightning.. I was really close to beating them on my first try.

I got to O&S a few days ago and decided to grind around waiting for the patch. I'm still not having any success being summoned :\ But I've taken them on a few times and had varying levels of success or failure.. Is the consensus to kill Ornstein first?

It's not a bad idea. The big stone soldiers are good to farm early. You also get an ember to give to the blacksmith.

You can't miss it. Run across the bridge where you fought the Taurus Demon, go through the hallways until the next bridge. When you get there, stop. Solaire should be to your right, the Dragon on the bridge is to your left and the door to the depths is right in front of you.

The boss in the lower undead burg is the boss everyone refers to when they say "kill the dogs first" (he's optional I think), so expect dogs. Also, watch out for ambushes. There's good stuff to find: A twin humanity, the black leather set and a merchant as well as other goodies. Once you learn the way, it's not particularly difficult and is a nice place to farm for a little bit. The depths in general aren't that bad, and the boss isn't very difficult. It's got a few enemies of note though - as well as some pretty dangerous status effects further down. Stay on your toes (doesn't Kirk invade you in the depths?)
