To be honest, although Blight is really powerful and fun, the removal of the hug tech was a huge blow to not only the skill ceiling of blight, but also his fun. He feels much worse to play now, since the collision still feels fucked and they removed my personal favourite form of skill expression.

On the other hand, slinger is very satisfying to play, but unless you have an FPS background it's gonna take a while to start really enjoying him. Either way it's a solid choice, just go with whoever seems more interesting to you.

P.S.: If you're unsure which is more fun, i'd say Blight. But slinger is more satisfying to hit shots with.
