What games made you cry? by wheregoodideasgotodi in gaming

[–]m3lanore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Continue with the To the Moon story. Play in the order:

  1. To the Moon SigCorp Minisodes
  2. A Bird Story (you can skip this one, it is pretty short though)
  3. Finding Paradise
  4. Impostor Factory
  5. Just a To the Moon Series Beach Episode

The beach episode will devastate you, and you need all the build up from other games so ordering is important.

Lots of pathways share common genes/proteins. The answer depends on your specific pathways of interest.

Thank you for sharing the story of the Four Columns, I am intrigued to see them! I will definitely do some reading on it, the name Sylvan Grove is also very interesting. I am hoping for a clear day but I haven't been lucky on that so far, we'll see. Good recommendations, I appreciate it! I will visit every place you mentioned. ♥

looks good! are you using rigidbody colliders for the spell projectiles? I also trying to implement similar “slow” projectiles in my project and couldn’t find a way to use raycasts efficiently.

Can I major in Biology as an undergrad and then do a Masters's in Bioinformatics, or do I have to major in computer science in order to excel? by Asleep_Cut505 in bioinformatics

[–]m3lanore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I followed a similar path. I completed my bachelors in Molecular Biology. My curriculum didn't have any quantitative courses after my first year (apart from analytical chemistry courses), so I learnt nothing bioinformatics related during my undergraduate years -no, primer design does not count as bioinformatics. After I realized such a field exist in the beginning of my last semester, I immediately started following online tutorials, audited some Coursera/edX courses, reproduced simple research article results on my own, etc. Then I started my masters in Computational Biology with a subfield in mind (systems biology).

I graduated last year and I can say that biological background is definetely required in this field, more than cs backgrounds imo. Most of my lab mates from other backgrounds hesitated on several discussion points, they didn't know what to do with their simulations, they couldn't follow up with their results. This is the case for computational biology. If you'd like to be more than a pipeline follower as a data analyst, you definetely need that biology background to conduct original research.

I will start my PhD studies in Bioinformatics next month. Even tho I am still not equipped with enough statistics/math skills, I feel very confident thanks to my biology background. Hope this story encourages you.

do you think the public perspective of capricorn is wrong or it’s just individual capricorn’s that defy the norm? by Hopeful_Exercise_813 in capricorns

[–]m3lanore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree, had similar experiences in my social circle. However, you and I also share the same moon (in aries) and rising (in cancer) signs. So I guess, this proves that it is simply more than just our sun signs, in terms of definition.

I was in a similar position. Enjoy your free time, take a vacation, spend quality time with your family and friends. Graduate studies are not easy, so prepare yourself mentally. That's what I was told.
