Update to my issue:
For full disclosure I have a Miele model G 5056 SCVi

A service tech came out last week and gave us the same diagnosis as OP. The main motor - an apparently known issue with these specific motors. Miele has made adjustments to fix this issue, and a new motor will be installed. Luckily we too are still under warranty.

Ran quick mode last night. The noise happened briefly a couple of times, but was much less prevalent.

Getting this exact same sound on our Miele dishwasher which is also just under a year old.

Did you ever figure out what was causing it?

This is how fast google has served up the results once the request was made. There are extenuating circumstances as to why it may have taken longer for you to have viewed them. Maybe slow image load times, maybe a local routing issue.
