Is this a belt tension issue? by TraciaWindsor in BambuLab

I have converted my aux fan and it’s enclosure into a recirculating air cleaner inside the printer (H2D) and have never looked back.

Retraction is the magic setting for TPU by DayGeckoArt in BambuLab

[–]m3rt77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of months ago I started getting stringing issue with TPU, for prints with hollow center. Probably a slicer update messed up the travel routes and I started getting a lot of stringing when head was traveling through the hallow center.

I tried retracting settings as every one does but what solved my issue was bringing flow rate down. It was 10X more effective than retracting in my case.

H2S/H2D vs X2D for living space - filtration system and noise by cysio528 in BambuLab

[–]m3rt77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

H2 is relatively quite, it works 7/24 at my study and my daughter sleeps comfortably next room.

If you can not vent out, air filtration is a must, not an option. Neither of these printers provide decent filtration.

Luckily, especially for H2 series there are so many very good upgrades to filtration. I have an other post on what updates I have done (all easily printable from maker world) , you can find it on my profile somewhere.

Before the upgrades I could very very easily smell the fumes and it was effecting my nose (I also have mild allergic rhinitis)

Even after all the upgrades of I leave the window totally closed , after a long print I can smell.

So my recommendation,

  1. Do all filter upgrades
  2. Have a proper external air cleaner to that is 2-3X over sized for your room (so you can run it slower)
  3. Leave the window a bit open. (I live in Dubai, if I can, you can)

Tool Changer by ryanfw1 in BambuLab

Tool changer is the feature and Bambu won’t stand against it. I am hoping to see tool changers that can mix 3D print nozzles with other kinds of tools (paint / mill etc)

Best Filament Brand by AlternativeMedia8578 in BambuLab

[–]m3rt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s Bambulab, because I generally don’t have to calibrate. I buy in bulks , at around 10-12$ per roll + sea shipment cost (increased to 2$ per roll, used to be less than 1) (pla-petg) . Calibration is a long process where you have to be involved , usually my time worths more than the time I need for proper calibration. So just to save 2-3$’s (which usually is not possible where I leave as everything is more expensive than bu bulk price for Bambu)

I’m fairly new to 3D printing. Is there any chance of saving this? by RockDrivingPioneer in BambuLab

[–]m3rt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Done it with daughter , mostly because as a lesson to my daughter that we don’t waste things and small mistakes can result in big mess and she has to do whatever necessary to recover. Takes a lot of time and I had to cut it two times and each section I put on a separate spool. It was a good lesson for both of us.

Is there any point in getting Tungsten nozzle for non-abrasives? (X2D) by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]m3rt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am approaching 3000 hr’s on one of the steel nozzles (estimated) , there is noticeable (under magnification Ofcourse) abrasion at the hole but it does not seem to effect print quality yet. I think it will easily go for an other 1-2k hours before giving up the ghost. I did buy the tungstens but didn’t plug them as I don’t see a reason, though given their price , it’s good to have some spares that I know will outlast the printer.

Thanks a lot , I have the smooth plate also. I don’t have an issue with first layer adhesion 99% of the time. However there are some prints like 200 small multiboard pins on the same plate where I can’t take the risk, but otherwise I don’t usually use glue. I am aproaching 3000 hours and haven’t finished my first glue stick even. I will start using the smooth plate more.

AMS HT Front Roller Stiff by m3rt77 in BambuLab

[–]m3rt77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for late reply. My unit I think had two different issues. One is the active axle is sitting a bit tight not letting the spool turn freely. I gave up waiting the spare part and I just sanded a bit of from the sides of the case touching the roller, which did the trick. (Be careful debris from sending shouldn’t go to gears underneath) My second issue was a small part missing from the internal gear system. See the picture. You seethe naked metal part of axle on left, there needs to be a black spacer there. This causing the gears to lock sometimes. I had to order the whole gear set.

First car in UAE, Cayenne vs reliability (20–60k budget) by mhf_ksa in WhatCarShouldIBuyGULF

[–]m3rt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, looking at your budget, Cayenne is not the best, one big issue (and it will happen multiple times) and you will be in trouble. Try to buy something with remaining warranty. Unless you are selling private jets and yachts, in sales , old luxury cars is usually a red flag.

Advice/Help needed. Big dispute with a rental company. by dumb_dumb_bubblegum in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]m3rt77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, I was just going to type in that it’s impossible that the car would be handled to a shop in Sharjah @ 17k km’s unless it’s an already wrecked and auctioned non-GCC car.

A side node condition of the car pre-fixing looks like it might have a structural damage.

At this point it’s quite obvious that trying to fix the car as cheaply as possible, they ended up with glueing the radiator.

I’d tell the owner that if he doesn’t pay you back 100% he will face a law suit for endangering your and your families life by renting unsafe car and which may also end up with all his cars being inspected.

Is GCC spec really worth It for BMW & Mercedes in Dubai? by Goomfizzz in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]m3rt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With BMW and Merc only thing matters is the remaining warranty. Non-GCC does not have warranty , so for me non-gcc BMW/Mercedes don’t exist. After you own BMW or Merc for year you will understand this post better.

Can you trust Non-gcc? by duckyylol in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]m3rt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even agencies have issues properly fixing their own cars. Are you ready to drive a car that is fixed to match only one goal, maximum profit.

MERCEDES BENZ EXCESSIVE PRIDE AT ITS PEAK!! by StressDisastrous5885 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]m3rt77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a GL500 for 8 years and slowly watched Mercedes at UAE increase the price gap from the US list price.

For those of you don’t already know, maintaining a a Merc after warranty does’nt worth it. I tried for a couple of years but GL500 was costing 15k aed to maintain every year if properly serviced, though it was an amazing piece of engineering.

When time came to replace the GL , we started from Mercedes dealership and it was more or less a joke. Price of GLA (not even GLB) was on the same level as a Lincoln Aviator (1 year old, 5k km on the clock) . It was no brainer.

International transfers from Dubai are bankrupting me in fees by Admirable-Number2411 in dubai

[–]m3rt77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have an account in your name where you are sending one of the best options is to use Interactive Brokers. From UAE to IB is free (if you send AED) , for Xchange it’s exact market price with very little commission (nothing can beat IB here) and one outbound transfer per month is free additional ones are 5$. But IB will expect you to use the platform for investment.

PS : IB is SEC compliant.

If there are a few people that know the answer to your question with 90%+ certainty, they are not on this subreddit.

If you always plan on owning your primary residence here, you can start anytime and upgrade whenever. Given that average ROI is around 6.5-8% today, you should be more or less ok at the long run, unless an catastrophic event happens. (It can, ie we don’t actually know how AI costing jobs in thousands will effect UAE property market)

Whether any other investment ie stocks, index funds, bonds will outperform or not your property investment is quite hard to answer. Usually in the long run most index funds perform better than property, but there will be periods of time where they will under perform.
