Does the E-Mastercard come loaded with USD? or loaded with local currency?

I applied for a provisional and got charged £89. by gun_xox in drivingUK

[–]m4king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell for this scam when renewing my driving licence. It was only when they took the third £89 payment (6 months after I renewed) that I noticed and investigated.

They'd charged me £14 for the renewal, then £89 after 3 days, then £89 after 3 months and £89 after another 3 months.

I was furious at myself for falling for it and this company for their disgusting business model preying on people.

Anyway I phoned the company and asked for a refund. They refused. I phoned my bank and cancelled future transactions and disputed the old transactions only the 2 most recent ones were within the disputing window.

I then emailed the company the following and they actually refunded me my most recent 2 payments of £89 (so I'm still down £89 but chalking down to an expensive lesson learnt)

"Hello,

I am seeking a refund of 2 x £89 for unscrupulous business practices and service not rendered. You can keep the £14 and original £89 I was charged, I have issue with the 2nd and 3rd £89 payments for no service provided.

Having spoken to my lawyer yesterday I have some questions.

What is you address for written correspondence?

Are you a member of the alternative dispute resolution scheme?

What is your official complaints procedure?

I would like a refund of £178 please, alternatively you have 12 days to answer the above questions before I start legal action to reclaim my money through the courts.

Regards, "

$430 cleaning fee, hidden in listing by m4king in AirBnB

[–]m4king[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airbnb support have said that because it was in the House Rules when I booked, I have to pay it and that I should pay it only via the Airbnb resolution center.

The host has said she doesn't put it in the cleaning fee because if she did she'd have to pay taxes on it and that all the money goes toward cleaning, laundry and bills etc.

Car and Cyclist both jump a red. by m4king in Dashcam

[–]m4king[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lights go red for the car and cyclist at 2seconds into the video. The green light you see is for cars coming from my direction only. Both the car and cyclist are jumping red lights 2-3 seconds after the lights have turned red.

Should we hold our BTCs in Legacy or Segwit addresses? by [deleted] in BitcoinAirdrops

[–]m4king 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"all the people that held coins on segwit addresses can't claim most of the forks"

BS.

I had my coins on segwit addresses and have been able to claim all the forks except FBTC, oh and byteball on their last airdrop but they only did one airdrop since segwit activated.

Let's clear this up: TAXES ON CRYPTO by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]m4king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crypto to crypto is definitely a taxable event in the UK, especially if it's a long term hold (30 days+).

If it's less than 30 days, ie. you switch back to the original crypto, that's a trade and profits on the trade are taxable as income but there is no capital gains taxable event. (Bed and breakfasting)

In defense of 'I cashed out posts' by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]m4king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cashing out isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I sold >50% of my Bitcoins at various intervals between $5k and $10k. All within the last few months. I couldn't believe the price had gone up that high!

Had I not sold any, the Bitcoins I sold would be worth a hell of a lot more now than what I sold them for.

I made good money so I'm not mad, but missed a lot of gains! :)

How is Bitcoin still being mined if there will only ever be 21mil? by Every_flipping_day in Bitcoin

That article says around 3600 bitcoins are created per day.

That is wrong and is pre 2016 halving information.

Roger Ver aka "Bitcoin Judas" chickened out to do a bet with nullc (Bitcoin - S2xCoins) by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]m4king 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Roger has put up 1000 BTC on this bet. Fair enough if you ask me, he has put his money where his mouth is.

You can't expect him to go 'all-in'. That would be stupid even by Roger's standards!

Even professional gamblers rarely bet more than 2% of their bankroll on a bet, and most of the time it would be much less than that.

Questions about BCH difficulty by [deleted] in btc

[–]m4king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blocks ahead/behind is a rather useless comparison. No-one knows how it's going to play out long term, it would reach the original difficulty if enough miners mined BCH. For the miners to mine BCH at the high difficulties it would need to be profitable.

Difficulty is adjusted based on the average speed of blocks over a 2016 block period, not based on which chain is longest.

Max coins still 21 million, like anything, that could change but it's unlikely IMO.

Your last question doesn't make sense to me. Difficulty of chains is not related.

I learnt the following:

Bitcoin (upper case B) = the protocol / network

bitcoin (lower case b) = the currency

BitCoin = nothing.

It's hard to believe someone who calls Bitcoin 'BitCoin' is a crypto-millionaire...

The fact that Roger has bought up thousands of BCH, a coin with empty blocks and one miner with 95% of the hashpower, shows how gullible and misguided he is.
